Florida Sports Science Lead – November 2024
Philosophy
The Sports Science Lead serves to bridge the gap between sports science operations and the day-to-day needs of our trainers and athletes at the Florida facility. This role is focused on the seamless integration of our motion capture assessments into the facility schedule and athlete and trainer use. The Lead will be accountable for managing the facility's sports science operations, troubleshooting technical issues, and fostering collaboration across departments. As the primary sports science presence in the Florida facility, this individual will strive to ensure our initiatives align with the broader goals of the company while driving innovation and maintaining the highest standards.
This role will report to the Sports Science Coordinator, and have sports science interns at this facility, report directly to them.
Key Functions and Responsibilities
• Lab Operations: Take ownership of the daily operations of our new Florida facility, including both markered and markerless motion capture systems. This includes managing the setup, maintenance, and optimization of all equipment and technologies.
• Team Leadership and Training: Manage and mentor Sports Science Interns and other staff on lab operations and technology use, providing hands-on training and location-specific documentation.
• Facility-Specific Management: Act as the primary Sports Science liaison for the Florida facility between our headquarters in Washington and Florida facility operations. This involves regular communication with department leads on-site and the Coordinator of Sports Science in Washington, to ensure consistency between facilities.
Requirements
• Proven experience with motion capture technology (markered or markerless).
• Strong ability to manage and troubleshoot technology and motion capture systems.
• Experience in managing teams
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Familiarity with the operations of sports science facilities, preferably within the context of a larger sports performance organization like Driveline
This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a significant role in the operations and development of our Sports Science initiatives, with a focus on optimizing technology use, advancing research, and leading our Florida team.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates applying for this position should be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
repeatedly throughout the workday. Also, the physical requirements of this job
require frequent walking around, demonstrating and assisting with exercise, throwing
and lifting movements; bending, throwing, stretching, lifting, pushing, pulling and
squatting are movements performed daily.
For those who have issues sitting down at a desk to perform their work, standing
desks are provided.
Pay Range: $55,000-$63,000 (DOE)
