Responsibilities
Position Overview:
The Vice President of Business Affairs for Features will be responsible for negotiating above-the-line agreements for animated and hybrid feature films, as well as other new media productions produced by DreamWorks and its affiliated entities (including agreements for writers, producers, directors, voice actors, and rights acquisitions). This executive will be expected to present, develop, and guide deal negotiations through to closure.
Responsibilities:
• Negotiate above-the-line agreements for features developed and/or produced by DreamWorks Animation and its affiliated entities.
• Negotiate for the acquisition of intellectual property rights.
• Responsible for reviewing contracts drafted by the production attorneys to ensure compliance with deal terms.
• Draft and distribute memos summarizing deal parameters.
• Maintain relationships with attorneys, agents and other representatives in the entertainment community.
• Advise and interface with all key company departments, including development, production, accounting, finance, labor and employment, marketing, promotions, consumer products, insurance, tax, distribution, trademark, and clearance teams on matters related to animated features.
Qualifications
/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Member of California Bar.
• Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in a motion picture studio, production company, network, or law firm.
• Transactional experience and experience negotiating deals for animation and/or hybrid/live action features.
Desired Characteristics
• JD from top-tier accredited law school.
• Superior negotiation, communication, and drafting skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and work under deadline.
• Superior organizational skills and ability to handle and track a high-volume workload.
• A self-motivated, proactive attorney capable of working autonomously and as a member of a team in a fast-pace entertainment environment.
• Ability to build interdepartmental relationships at all levels.
