Production Supervisor
DreamWorks Animation
Location: 1000 Flower St, Glendale, CA, US
Employment Type: Full-Time

The Production Supervisor manages the tactical aspects of a department to ensure schedule goals are met while supporting artists and production staff. The role partners closely with the Department Head to oversee department workflow, scheduling, staffing, and performance tracking.
Schedule and Workflow
• Manage the department schedule, track labor weeks, and coordinate day-to-day workflow while approving and managing overtime
• Develop and manage internal department schedules and staffing requirements while identifying assumptions and potential vulnerabilities
• Maintain production tracking reports and provide supporting notes explaining department performance and strategy
• Work with production management (APM, PM, or AP) to meet overall scheduling and budget requirements and update plans as production flow or staffing changes occur
• Collaborate with Department Head to assign work, issue deadlines, and ensure work complexity aligns with department budget and schedule
• Manage department progress toward eight-week goals and ensure weekly quotas, achievements, and inventory expectations are met
• Strategize with leadership and other Production Supervisors to resolve efficiency or inventory challenges and communicate budget or schedule risks
• Build and maintain reports illustrating department and individual artist productivity
Leadership
• Serve as the primary production lead within the department
• Supervise and mentor Production Coordinators and Production Assistants
• Partner with Department Head to provide performance feedback and manage annual review processes
• Ensure production staff are prepared for dailies and that progress against quotas and notes is clearly communicated
• Assist with conflict resolution and work with Human Resources when additional support is required
• Coordinate training opportunities with the Training Department when needed
• Participate in interviewing and hiring processes when requested
• Support directives from studio and production leadership
• Assist production leadership and executives with department transitions when required
• Contribute to department post-mortem and wrap documentation
Communication
• Maintain a productive day-to-day environment within the department
• Represent the department in weekly production meetings and report progress
• Partner with Department Head to ensure the department remains motivated and focused on quotas and creative goals
• Conduct regular crew check-ins and walk-arounds
• Attend Director approval meetings and assist with meeting agendas
Qualifications
• Preferred 5+ years of experience as a Production Coordinator
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships
• Ability to create and manage department-specific production schedules
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to multitask in fast-paced production environments
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Gmail
• Experience with production tracking systems such as Autodesk Flow Production Tracking (ShotGrid) preferred
• Must be willing to work in Glendale, CA
