Full Job Description
Feature Animator, DreamWorks Animation, Glendale, CA.
The Feature Animator is responsible for creating memorable and emotionally engaging character performances through strong acting choices and high-quality animation. This role works closely with the Head of Character Animation and Supervising Animators to ensure characters remain on model while setting a high standard of animation quality for the team.
Responsibilities include developing emotional content for scenes, establishing strong animation mechanics, consistently finding appealing poses, and adapting to a range of animation styles. The role also involves testing character setups, contributing to the development of new animation tools, solving technical issues independently or escalating when appropriate, and maintaining a strong understanding of the CG animation pipeline.
The Feature Animator is expected to communicate proactively about scheduling challenges, remain open to feedback and creative changes, and contribute to team growth by mentoring new animators and sharing best practices. This hybrid position generally requires working onsite a minimum of three days per week.
