Part of The Walt Disney Studios, Disney Music Group (DMG) is the music hub for TWDC, encompassing all aspects of music commercialization and marketing: recorded music (Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records), Disney Music Publishing, and Disney Concerts. DMG distributes music both physically and digitally, and also licenses music throughout the world in various forms of media including television, print, gaming, and consumer products.
Job Summary:
This Role is responsible for Label Copy collection, creation, vetting, data entry and updating of metadata in DMG's in-house repertoire management database for specifically assigned projects, in a timely manner to meet deadlines set by the DMG Production Schedule. This involves daily communication and collaboration with various project-leads from A&R, Production, Business Affairs, Sales/Digital, Marketing, Music Royalties, and Licensing, as well as third party stakeholders, in order to ensure metadata accuracy and completeness. Additional tasks include proofing/editing of artwork; researching, creating and submitting ISRCs for 3rd Party A&R requests, Music Licensing and Accounting; updating contributor royalty-bearing statuses as directed; researching, vetting and confirming Publishing information and ISRC assignment for third party obligations and licensed masters; working with A&R, Sales/Digital and Production to ensure all artist/product expectations are met in relation to the Digital Service Providers' consumer-facing credits; as well as notifying the relevant parties when metadata is ready for review and transmission to DMG's distribution partners.
The following characteristics are absolutely essential in this role: attention to detail, organization, recording and music publishing industry and label copy knowledge, strong interpersonal skills, intense focus, and clear, concise communication. The ability to retain institutional knowledge is also crucial towards managing a very high and ever-increasing volume. Finally, this role requires a strong degree of independence as well as collaborative decision-making, explaining and exploring various options with respect to how metadata appears public facing.
Responsibilities
and Duties of the Role:
• Focus on major areas of work, typically 20% or more of role
• Attend and present updates at weekly Production and Post-Production Meetings.
• Partner and collaborate with A&R partners to obtain final frontline and catalog label copy information from various sources, including A&R, Producer Management, Artist Management, Songwriters, Production and other Disney divisions, for all assigned projects.
• Translate label copy information as received by A&R and other parties into metadata and populate repertoire system according to the Production Schedule deadlines – for both Frontline and Catalog releases.
• Partner with the Sr. Manager to confirm all relevant and necessary data points are being captured for database integrity and Digital Service Provider expectations.
• Finalize and distribute Label Copy on all new releases (frontline and catalog); distribute Label Copy upon request.
• Proofing and editing of artwork from Production and providing corrections and guidance to stakeholders.
• Inputting updates into repertoire system as necessary by request from Music Royalties.
• Issuing Audio ISRCs by request from A&R, Licensing and Accounting.
• Advanced level of understanding and knowledge of DMG releases and production timelines.
• Develop collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the company.
• Provide weekly project database entry notification report.
Required Education
, Experience/Skills/Training:
• 2 years or more Music industry experience required
• Recording and music publishing industry and label copy knowledge
• Basic office administrative skills, including efficient typing (email, phones)
• Proficient in MSOffice
• 2+ years of database management
• 2+ years of Excel & Word (knowledge of filtering, formulas, formatting, etc.)
• Attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships
• Clear and concise communication skills
• Ability to work under very tight and constantly shifting deadlines
• Bachelor's degree preferred
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $59,925 to $77,550 per year based on a40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
