About the Role & Program:
WPVI-TV is an ABC-owned television station (OTVS) located in a state-of-the-art facility in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 6abc/Action News, is Philadelphia's #1 source for news! For more than 50 years, Action News has been bringing the biggest stories of the day to viewers in the Delaware Valley, an area covering Southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Southern New Jersey, currently representing more than 8 million people!
This internship is a part-time, six-month commitment in the New York, New York area from January 2026-June 2026. The position does require that the candidate must have availability to work on Fridays from 10 am - 3:30 pm.
What You Will Do:
We crafted this Production internship to provide our intern with a general understanding of the many facets of long-form content creation and live-to-tape event production within the fast-paced media industry from the prospective of community engagement, external affairs, strategic partnerships, social cause marketing, and station brand awareness.
As an intern on our team, you will work onsite, in the office, in a professional environment, and will gain hands-on experience. You will be exposed to productions, initiatives and events we originate at 6abc. You will also be provided with a view of all aspects of television long-form production and operations of the Community Engagement department. You will have the opportunity to observe and participate in the daily work and operations of a major market television station and connect with community-based non-profit organizations, and the communities that 6abc serves and supports.
As our intern, some of your projects with the WPVI-TV (6abc) Community Engagement team may include:
• Assist with planning, prep and execution of the station's LIVE and taped long-form productions, campaigns, initiatives and events
• Write digital copy for the website and on-air PSAs
• Create and edit social media digital content
• Attend community engagement meetings (virtual & in-person)
• Develop and design communication materials (i.e. Canva, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Proficient in capturing video and still photography footage using Cannon/Nikon DSLR cameras
• Proficiency with video editing using Adobe Premier
• Proficiency with Canva, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
• Proficiency with social media
• Attentive to detail and ability to be flexible, manage deadlines & prioritize multiple assignments in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior TV or Video production internship
• Major or previous coursework in Communications, Film & Television, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, or related major
• A desire to pursue a career in television/multi-media field
• A curiosity of community engagement, corporate citizenship and social cause marketing
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
• Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
• Fully available from January 2026 through June 2026
• Fully available from Sunday through Saturdays for the duration of the internship, 20 hours each week. Candidate must have availability to work on Fridays from 10 am - 3:30 pm.
• Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area
• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area
