Job Summary:
Reporting to the VP of Operations and Business Planning, the Finance Manager plays a pivotal role in financial planning and reporting processes, including Long Range Planning, Annual Operating Plan, periodic forecasts, and compliance. This role translates strategic objectives into actionable financial plans, delivers comprehensive reporting, drives operational efficiencies, and monitors station expenses to ensure alignment with financial goals.
As a key contributor to station-wide initiatives, the Finance Manager partners closely with leadership to execute the station's business vision. The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, adheres to established policies and procedures, and knows when to escalate issues appropriately. This position requires technical expertise in financial systems and practices, along with a deep understanding of organizational objectives and interdepartmental priorities.
Responsibilities
• Review, interpret, and recommend local business contracts, including site leases, parade agreements, and personal service agreements.
• Partner with station leadership on recommendations for day-to-day business decisions.
• Develop, maintain, and track key business metrics to guide operational objectives and goals.
• Coordinate, plan, and manage their activities to accomplish assigned goals and deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of five years of professional experience; prior management experience strongly preferred.
• Expert knowledge of accounting procedures and practices.
• Strong service orientation and ability to work effectively with internal and external partners.
• Collaborative working style with excellent communication skills at all levels.
• Proven ability to handle confidential information and exercise sound judgment.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and solve complex problems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), SAP, COGNOS, and IBM Analytics.
• Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills.
• Experience managing complex projects and balancing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
• Management experience in public accounting or a large company.
• Experience in television business operations or related media field.
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
Preferred Education
• MBA, CPA, or currently working toward either designation.
