About the Role & Team
Disney's Direct to Consumer team oversees the Hulu and Disney+ streaming businesses within Disney Entertainment helping to bring The Walt Disney Company's best-in-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere. The Disney+ Programming and Content Curation team is responsible for leading content planning, scheduling, on-service merchandising, slate management, and programming insights that contribute to a cohesive strategic content approach for the service.
What You Will Do
Reporting into the Director, Editorial Strategy & Content Programming, the Senior Manager, Editorial Strategy & Content Programming will be responsible for supervising and developing high impact, curated global programming strategies that promote The Walt Disney Company brands and franchises. They will lead and develop Disney+ editorial programming go-to-market plans for titles, seasonal and cultural moment campaigns, and company tentpoles, including establishing relationships with key partners such as Studios, Marketing, Data, Finance, Sales, Franchise, and Brand. Additionally, they will maintain and evolve workflows, evaluate business needs, and advance campaign strategies. The Senior Manager will also leverage takeaways from global markets and serve as a subject matter authority for on-service activities. As a central cross-functional liaison for internal teams, their focus will be on driving the development of global in-service programming activations to improve user engagement and retention.
• Develop and lead high impact, curated global programming strategies that promote The Walt Disney Company brands and franchises.
• Drive Disney+ global editorial programming, promotion, retention, and engagement
• Oversee and maintain workflow processes for in-service programming activations, including pre-stream content promos.
• Collaborate on strategic editorial frameworks and governance for Disney+ and Star+ globally.
• Facilitate verbal and written communications between teams, and to the larger organization to ensure smooth information-sharing, issue resolution, and workload transitions.
• Act as trusted knowledge source for internal business partners around Disney+ content programming.
• Help identify and champion content programming framework improvements based on quantitative and strategic inputs.
• Partner with marketing and global programming teams to ensure all priorities are coordinated appropriately.
• Present campaign plans and recaps to senior executives, internal partners, executive producers, showrunners, talent, and studios.
• Use CMS, data, and other tools (Excel, Google Suite, etc.) to support day-to-day responsibilities.
• Use market and behavior data, as well as audience research, to drive data and analytics for determining effective programming strategies.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
• 8+ years' experience working within digital media and entertainment.
• 2+ years of people management experience.
• SVOD or Linear TV experience.
• Experience in fields related to content programming, content planning, content curation, editorial and engagement strategy.
• Experience with content management systems, data, and other tools (Excel, Google Suite, etc.) to help operationalize and implement day-to-day responsibilities.
• Able to build strong relationships and work seamlessly across a large organization.
• Excellent communicator, collaborator, and time-manager with meticulous attention to detail.
• Outstanding organizational, prioritization, and time management skills; capable of completing multiple, high-priority projects with meticulous attention to detail.
• Sophisticated data literacy.
• Capable of being forward-thinking and adapting quickly to new technologies and processes.
• Always maintaining a perpetual learner's demeanor, constantly seeking opportunities to enhance processes and expand knowledge and personal development.
• Collaborative with a strong work ethic and high level of confidentiality
• Strong effective communication skills: both verbally and in writing.
• Understanding of The Walt Disney Company and general entertainment content libraries, brands, franchises, and characters
Preferred Qualifications • International content experience a plus.
• Experience with the iWork suite (Keynote, Numbers, Pages, etc.).
• Experience with Data Analytics Tools (Looker, Tableau).
• Windowing/programming strategy experience.
Education
• Bachelor's degree minimum
The hiring range for this position in CA is $123,000.00 to $165,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
