About the Role & Team
Disney's Direct to Consumer team oversees the Hulu and Disney+ streaming businesses within Disney Entertainment helping to bring The Walt Disney Company's best-in-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere.
The Disney+ Programming team is responsible for leading content planning, scheduling, on-service merchandising, and slate management across our iconic brands, including Walt Disney Animation Studios, Walt Disney Pictures, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Pixar, Disney Branded Television, National Geographic, 20th Century Studios, and Searchlight Pictures.
Within the larger team, Programming Insights is an audience-centric team focused on developing insights & programming strategies to help us acquire, engage, and retain global subscribers.
These efforts all feed into our larger content and business strategy. In collaboration with other internal teams, we:
• Identify what global subscribers need to join, engage with, and stay on Disney+
• Drive analyses to better understand how our titles, portfolios, and brands are serving our global audience's needs
• Work with on-service platform metrics to identify how best to serve the right content to the right audience, at the right time
What You Will Do
Reporting into the Senior Manager, Programming Insights, the Programming Insights Manager will play a vital role in providing analytical and strategic support to help us gain deeper insights into how our content serves our subscribers and contributes to the success of Disney+.
The Programming Insights Manager will dedicate time to evaluating the performance of our streaming content portfolios and in-flight titles, supporting key business decisions. They will collaborate with internal research and analytics teams and synthesize diverse inputs into a unified and cohesive narrative and will craft recommendations which inform our broader Programming strategy. We are seeking an individual with outstanding analytical abilities, a proven track record of using these skills to drive business and content strategy, and someone who thrives in a dynamic and lively environment. This role also involves actively contributing to our team culture, which promotes continuous learning and knowledge sharing, diversity of thoughts and expression, and the open exchange of ideas from all contributors.
• Gather inputs from internal tools as well as from various research and analytics teams and synthesize them into reports while adding in their own Programming point-of-view.
• Collaborate with senior members of the Programming Insights team on more extensive, long-term projects that contribute to shaping our broader content and programming strategies.
• Conduct research which deepens our knowledge of both our existing and prospective audiences
• Stay current with industry trends influencing the SVOD landscape, providing insights into their impact on our strategies.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• 3+ years of content analytics experience within entertainment
• Experience evaluating and assessing the performance of titles, content portfolios, and broader entertainment brands.
• Knowledge of industry and audience trends impacting the SVOD landscape
• Experience with the Google Suite and the Microsoft Office Suite
• Exceptional attention to detail, and advanced spreadsheet and deck-building skills
• Highly proficient in data visualization and storytelling data in a way which feels accessible and engaging.
• Genuine passion and a deep curiosity about the entertainment industry and the streaming landscape
• Ability to prioritize and manage projects proactively.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
• Tableau and Looker experience is ideal.
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree
The hiring range for this position in CA is $84,500.00 to $113,300.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
