Disney's Direct to Consumer (DTC) team oversees the Hulu and Disney+ streaming businesses within Disney Entertainment, helping to bring The Walt Disney Company's best-in-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere.
The Disney+ Global Subscriber Engagement and Content Programming organization is responsible for leading content planning, scheduling, on-service merchandising, slate management, and programming insights that contribute to a cohesive strategic content approach for the streaming service.
What You Will Do
Reporting to the Manager, Content Planning and part of the Disney+ Global Content Planning & Scheduling team, The Content Planning Manager will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, tracking, and reporting of global content initiatives across diverse content types. They will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment and seamless collaboration.
Key responsibilities include overseeing content acquisitions, managing library curation, developing and implementing localization strategies, and orchestrating release plans throughout each title's lifecycle. Additionally, this Content Planning Manager will spearhead initiatives related to the Disney catalog and special projects, driving innovation and operational excellence.
This role is pivotal in establishing efficient processes, optimizing support tools, and enhancing overall workflow to ensure the successful delivery and management of content worldwide.
Responsibilities
• Manage tracking and reporting of Disney+ title premiere dates across territories in collaboration with global and local planners for Library, Acquisitions, and Special Projects.
• Maintain daily communication and build positive relationships with Regional and Content Operations teams to assess strategy, license terms, localization, and asset readiness throughout the content lifecycle.
• Develop calendars, reports, and content plans into data-driven summaries and high-level presentation decks for executive review.
• Represent the Disney+ Content Planning team in meetings with a professional and enthusiastic attitude.
• Serve as a contact point and project manager for ad hoc requests and deliverables.
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in digital media and/or entertainment within areas such as title content planning, content strategy, content curation, localization, lifecycle planning, and project management.
• Proficiency in Airtable, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs and Google Sheets, with ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems as needed.
• Exceptional communicator and collaborator, with strong time-management skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying ideas clearly and effectively.
• Skilled at building and nurturing relationships across large organizations, ensuring seamless cross-team collaboration.
• Highly collaborative, with a strong work ethic, professionalism, and high levels of confidentiality.
• Forward-thinking and adaptable, able to quickly integrate new processes and systems.
• Represent the Disney+ Content Planning team professionally and diplomatically in meetings, serving as the primary point of contact for this function.
• Solution-oriented mindset, capable of handling challenges proactively and leading projects for ad hoc requests.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience in SVOD or Linear TV industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of localization processes (e.g. subtitles/dubs ordering) is a bonus.
• Familiarity with Looker is a plus.
• Passion and understanding of The Walt Disney Company's various segments, brands, and franchises, along with the strategic ability to enhance audience engagement and strengthen brand loyalty.
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related field or equivalent years of experience.
Additional Information:
• This position is based in the Glendale office 4 days a week (typically Monday through Thursday) and offers the flexibility to work from home on Fridays.
The hiring range for this position in CA is $85,800.00 to $115,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
