Job Summary:
This integral role stewards strategic integrated campaigns to publicize an estimated two dozen live action series and movies and other programming for kids and families on Disney Channel and related platforms, and for Radio Disney Network (Radio Disney and Radio Disney Country). The function leads PR strategy and outreach and manages a team of Publicists, working closely with partners across the Company to ensure there is a cohesive approach to communications and media outreach.
Responsibilities:
• Leads the creation of messaging and strategy, devises and pitches compelling news angles across consumer, trade and business press for multiple projects simultaneously
• Provides leadership, direction and growth opportunities for Publicity staff
• Maintains strong relationships with consumer and trade media
• Identifies, develops and pitches creative news angles to publicize programming and extensions of programming
• Prepares executives, talent and creative teams for press interviews
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 15 years publicity experience in TV/media/music industry
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Competence in effective media relations practices and rapport with reporters who cover television, music and popular culture and familiarity with non-traditional media (influencers) and social media
• Must be a creative, strategic thinker and problem-solver with affinity for details
• Must be self-motivated and proactive with the ability to manage multiple projects
• Must have strong interpersonal skills, and be capable of working independently and in a team atmosphere
• Must have a sound work ethic and positive attitude
• Must have ability to adapt in a fast-paced corporate work environment
• Must have a stable work history
• Must be computer literate (minimally Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Preferred Education
• Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Communications, Journalism, Media Relations, Public Relations
