Full Time Job
We are seeking a Technical Data Analyst, with experience applying statistical techniques to real world problems at scale, to join our multiplatform research team. The ideal candidate has a solid background in statistics and coding. They will be comfortable working with APIs and databases to pull data together, and good at rapidly rationalizing and transforming that data into useful form, and delivering their results via clean, maintainable code. The candidate will have experience working with engineering and analyst teams to rapidly deliver insights in an iterative, fast-paced development environment. They will have excellent communication skills and be able to explain the problem domain, their approach, progress and decisions to business customers, technical and non-technical teams.
The candidate should have an undergraduate degree in statistics, computer science, math, or a related field, advanced degree is a plus. Relevant work experience is required. Experience with Hadoop, SQL and NoSQL technologies is required, as well as basic scripting experience in a dynamic language, such as Python or Ruby, experience with a statically typed language such as Java, C#, or C , is a big plus.
The candidate must be passionate about solving the toughest challenges and be excited by working at scale, using distributed systems. They will enjoy working in a fast-paced collaborative team environment contributing to a high-performance team culture.
Responsibilities
• Analyzing terabyte-scale datasets, both structured and unstructured, from a variety of sources
• Present findings to stakeholders, including executive management
• End-to-end problem analysis, design, implementation, and presentation of findings
• Building maintainable data solutions, including documentation
• Act as a technical liaison between the research team and various data platform engineering teams
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years' experience developing scalable analyses in a real world problem domain.
• Experience at a large company with complex business models, working directly with internal customers and facilitating or mediating across functions.
• Ability to contribute to multiple projects/demands simultaneously and self-prioritize.
• Knowledge of fundamental CS concepts, i.e., algorithms and data structures.
• Strong math, statistics, analytical, and problem solving skills.
• Experience with programming. Python and Java are the main languages in use. Analytics is primary for this role, programming is secondary. Must be good with a spreadsheet.
• Experience or familiarity with Hadoop, Redshift, and/or similar technologies for distributed, scalable storage and processing.
• Familiarity with a GNU/Linux environment, including bash and command-line editors.
• Experience working with customers, product management, and operations to design innovative solutions that meet requirements with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability, realistic implementation schedules and adherence to architectural goals and principles.
• Demonstrable knowledge of Relational Databases (eg., Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL)
• Demonstrable knowledge of Distributed Databases (eg., Hive, Redshift, Greenplum)
• Demonstrable knowledge of NoSQL Data Frameworks (eg., Spark, Mongo, Cassandra, HBase)
• Demonstrable knowledge Data Analysis and Transformation (eg., R, Matlab, Python, etc.)

• Experience with a statically typed language such as Java, C#, or C
