Full Time Job
Create and maintain models that project show-level ultimate participations based on reading and interpreting legal agreements in order to support the forecasting, budgeting and long range planning functions for ABC Studios. Ensure actual participation statements align with agreements and projections via a detailed review of the statements. Partner with Legal and Business Affairs to ensure projections and statements align with negotiated deals. Provide assistance to Labor Relations during union negotiations and ad hoc support to Finance, Legal and Business Affairs.
Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain complex financial models to calculate ultimate participation liability and cash flow for quarterly close, monthly forecasts, annual budget and 5 year plan
• Work closely with members of finance team to evaluate ultimate, production, and distribution information
• Ensure proper reporting to 3rd parties for back-end talent deals and to other studios for co-production deals
• Partner with Legal, Business Affairs, Participation and Residuals groups to ensure consistent interpretation and administration of deals
• Perform ad hoc analyses and provide decision support to senior management in Finance, Legal and Business Affairs (e.g., new deal proposals, talent renegotiations, participation audits)
• Evaluate detailed legal contracts as they relate to contingent compensation for above-the-line talent (e.g., producers, writers, directors)
• Assist Labor Relations in providing cost analysis of guild proposals during union negotiations (e.g., WGA, DGA, SAG)
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 to 3 years relevant work experience
• Experience with studio talent deals and participations preferred
• Expert in Excel with strong PowerPoint skills
• Experience with SAP and/or COGNOS a plus
• Self-motivated and strategic thinker with strong work ethics
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable working directly with senior executives
• Able to balance multiple priorities simultaneously and resolve issues quickly without sacrificing quality
Required Education
• B.S. degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
