Producer/Editor, ABC News (Washington, DC)
Job Summary:
ABC News is hiring a Producer/Editor based in the Washington Bureau. The Producer/Editor position is non-union and responsible for editing & producing daily content for all ABC News shows. The work will be in collaboration with show producers but working solo will also be expected. Candidates must be self-starters, flexible, enjoy working in a fast-paced 24/7 news environment and have great attention to detail. Working weekends and overnights will be expected. Candidates must have experience in managing multiple projects at once, have excellent communications skills, a positive attitude and be a team player.
Responsibilities:
• Duties will focus on but not be limited to news broadcast editing.
• This position requires that the candidate have proven proficiency and speed in News Broadcast editing, exercise good editorial judgment, demonstrate initiative and be able to work on their own.
• Candidates will be responsible at times for editorial content of the stories they are editing. Candidates must feel comfortable providing editorial direction to their work and working with show producers in DC and New York.
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years working in Broadcast News
• Candidate must have extensive experience in Avid editing equipment working with complicated sequences and effects and must be able to work under pressure to meet necessary deadlines.
• Experience with third party effects a must; Sapphire, BCC.
• Must be available to work overnight hours/weekends and perform under pressure with last minute changes or updates.
• Non-Technical Skills: Strong organizational skills, able to meet deadlines, attention to detail, works well under pressure on their own and as part of a team.
• Follow SOP workflows precisely
Preferred Qualifications:
• AVID editing on a shared storage system.
• Adobe Photoshop and After Effects familiarity
Required Education
• BA or BS from a 4 year accredited college or university or equivalent experience
