Job Summary:
ABC News is seeking an Executive Producer for ''This Week with George Stephanopoulos,'' reporting to the President of ABC News.
ABC News is responsible for all of the ABC Television Network's news programming, including ''World News Tonight with David Muir,'' ''Nightline,'' ''Good Morning America,'' '' GMA DAY'' ''20/20,'' ''This Week with George Stephanopoulos,'' ABC News Radio, ABCNews.com, and satellite service NewsOne. An award-winning team provides the latest information and analysis of major events to bring viewers a big-picture understanding of the world.
Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate for this position is a substantive visually creative experienced multiplatform producer with a passion for politics and a deep knowledge of current national and international events, public affairs, government operations at the state and national levels, government policy, elections, and campaigns.
This position will be responsible for managing the editorial process, line producing, and reimagining the content for ABC News' Sunday morning political affairs program, ''This Week with George Stephanopoulos'' pivoting toward and exploiting the changing viewer expectations and experience in this new and evolving multiplatform environment. Candidates must be able to effectively manage story assignments and show production.
Candidates should have a minimum of ten years' experience in television journalism, and should have significant experience working with network talent and anchors. A solid calm command of managing a control room through live and often breaking unpredictable coverage is also required.
The ideal candidate will offer creative and innovative ideas for developing storytelling formats to reach new audiences as well as have the ability to work under pressure and handle breaking news. Most importantly, the Executive Producer will establish a vision and voice for ''This Week''. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
Collaboration and exceptional leadership skills are required. In addition to managing a team of journalists, editors and multimedia producers, this executive will work extensively with Disney Ad Sales, Affiliate Relations, Research, Affiliate Sales and Marketing and Finance to maximize the reach, brand extension and revenue for both the linear and non-linear products.
The Executive Producer will be expected to work closely with both the President of News and the Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief as part of the senior executive team outreach to newsmakers and public and private leaders in Washington, across the country and around the world in support of the goal to have the most interesting and relevant voices and discussions on ABC news' programs.
The EP must have the ability to meet and adapt to changing industry demands and be flexible and able to balance multiple projects/priorities. This best candidates will be dynamic individuals who are passionate and excited about the future of news, media, and politics, and who want to take a major role in leading and shaping that future.
Basic Qualifications:
• 10 years of results-oriented work experience in a video production role
• Strong editorial judgment
• Deep knowledge of the political landscape
• Creative line producing and control room experience
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
• Proven ability to build, manage, and lead a team
Required Education
• BA or equivalent work experience
