The VP, People & Culture provides overall strategic business partner leadership to the company, and oversees the development and implementation of all People & Culture policies, programs, and services, including talent acquisition, legal compliance, compensation and benefits, employee relations, payroll, training and development, employment practices and procedures and HR information systems.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the VP, People & Culture partners with executives to establish and implement strategic objectives, short and long-term goals, and HR strategies. The VP develops and coaches managers and supervisors at all levels to build an engaged workforce, implement a positive culture and achieve company goals.
The VP, People & Culture will be part of a global team paving the way in the newest direct to consumer technology platforms, providing world class Automotive content. This position will report in to the SVP of People & Culture, Discovery, while partnering closely with the President & GM of Motor Trend and the wider Discovery global team.
Responsibilities
Leadership
1. Provides HR leadership and support to all employees as needed.
2. Selects, develops and leads a team of People & Culture professionals with the goal of earning a high level of credibility as an effective and responsive internal service group that meets the company’s growth plans.
Employee Relations
1. Serves as internal coach/consultant to company management team, supervisors and employees, as needed, on employee issues that affect performance and business relationships.
2. Ensures employee relations are handled smoothly and accurately. Works with appropriate team members to manage employee claims; provides assistance and/or senior level review of investigations/dispute resolution as needed. Consults legal counsel for advice on high risk situations.
Strategy
1. Partners with and creates alignment with all areas of the organization to accomplish company objectives.
2. Develops and implements organizational strategies for the human resources function companywide to align with company business objectives and to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Human Resource function.
Compensation & Benefits
1. Manages company benefits renewal process including carrier negotiation, plan selections, contribution strategies, 401K, and more.
2. Reviews and oversees the compensation and benefits programs across the company and ensures benefit programs continue to meet the needs of both the employees and the company.
3. Ensures compensation and bonus programs are aligned with organizational objectives and pay-for-performance strategies.

1. Develops an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and high performance.
2. Creates a fun and rewarding workplace for all employees, promotes a positive environment and culture consistent with the core values and goals of the company.
3. Implements programs, policies and practices designed to enhance employee engagement, reduce turnover, and ensure legal compliance.
Talent Acquisition
1. Responsible for creating a talent acquisition process that attracts and retains “best in class” employees and works with the team to ensure that positions are filled in a timely manner with the most qualified and best culturally aligned candidates.
2. Participates in the interview process for senior employees and ensures that succession planning is a consideration during this process.
Training & Development
1. Oversees all training and development needs for the organization and ensures all programs align with company strategies.
2. Oversees the company’s performance management process.
3. Ensures the creation and development of succession planning strategies, career development programs for all levels, development needs assessments and other innovative development strategies.
4. Implements and manages a reward and recognition program for all employees. Reviews proposals for new and innovative recognition systems that will help further align the employees with the goals of the organization.
Processes & Systems
1. Responsible for all People & Culture processes within each discipline of Human Resources.
2. Oversees employee record keeping, HR information systems, and the management of all HR data.
3. Responsible for analyzing and reporting all HR metrics
4. Oversees the payroll function and works with appropriate team members to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and compliance with all applicable wage and hour laws
General
1. Responsible for corporate HR budget. Provides input for annual budgets and business plans.
2. Assists as needed with contract negotiations with Human Resources vendors ensuring that all business partners align with the company culture and values.
3. Implements and maintains a safe work environment.
4. Maintains current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding human resources.
Requirements
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior HR role.
* Highly motivated, be an amazing leader with a high EQ.
* Experienced and adept at interacting at all levels.
* Ability to work in a fast pace work environment balancing multiple projects and embracing change.
* Proven track record as an effective manager in a high-performance organization, success as a builder of collaborative, high performance teams whose management style is characterized by a hands-on, results orientation.
* Strategic thinker, with an ability to contribute at both a strategic and operational level.
* Excellent verbal and written communication, conflict-resolution, problem-solving skills.
* Strong leadership, managerial and organizational skills.
* Unquestionable ethical standards and integrity required.
* Strong business acumen.
* Broadly experienced with direct management of organization development, training and development, staffing, succession planning within a global consumer-oriented company.
* High-level generalist who is proactive in conceiving, initiating and executing human resources programs relevant to the organization’s culture. The individual will have had experience managing the processes and systems that contribute to the achievement of the Human Resource mission.
* Ideally, experience in and/or exposure to working for companies having used progressive human resources management as a business differentiator.
* Good working Knowledge of HRIS systems and specifically ADP WFN
