Responsibilities
We believe that building purpose-built software results in the best possible experience for our users. Therefore, as a UX Director, you will work in close collaboration with our diverse teams to own the UX of our direct consumer client platform (Web, Mobile and Connected Devices) delivering best of bread direct to consumer VOD / OTT platforms for Discovery brands. As a Central Digital team member, you will shape how millions of users across the globe consume Discovery’s vast catalogue of content on a daily basis.
Requirements
• Expertise in the User Centred Design processes and applying them in the development of a product for web browser, mobile app and connected TVs
• Experience in translating audience research and business requirements into effective experience design solutions.
• Experienced in applying A/B and Multivariate testing. Analysing the results to ensure user needs are met and drive conversion and retention.
• Ability to produce user journeys, flow diagrams, wireframes, sitemaps, functional specifications, guidelines and client-facing documentation.
• Ability to visualise experiences through lo and hi fidelity sketches, storyboards, mockups and prototypes.
• Expert user of a wide range of digital tools for conceptualising, designing and prototyping e.g. Adobe CS, Sketch, Invision, Principle
• Mastery of interaction design that is goal orientated, focused on the cognitive dimension and the emotional response.
• Expertise in usability and accessibility including the ability to run usability testing sessions to evaluate designs and identify the needs of our users.
• Continually assess trends, competitive landscape and customer behaviour to d the overall direction
• Provide strong team leadership
• Interface with international stakeholders and be able to travel, sometimes at short notice
Desirable
• Track record of designing the UX for market-leading products, preferably within the video space
• Experience in designing video on demand products and a deep understanding of how the audience interacts with these services across responsive web, mobile and connected TVs
• Experience of working in a digital media/broadcast company
• Customer focussed with a real passion for creating best in class customer experiences and the ability to put the customer at the heart of the product
• Excellent written and oral communication. Able to write and present to non-digitally savvy audiences
• Excellent decision making and judgment
• Experience of stakeholder management
