The Role
Reporting to the Platform Services Manager, the Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, administration and support of all Discovery Inc’s Servers across the entire Discovery, INC’s infrastructure and provides 24x7 on-call support.
Responsibilities
1. Working with business stake holders to determine the appropriate technological solution to meet the needs of the business. Build that solution and present back to the stake holder for approval of the final solution. Document and set-up long term supportability of the solution and hand off to the operational teams.
2. Change, Incident, and Problem management including Root Cause Analysis
3. Ensure configuration, change and event management processes, procedures and controls are implemented and adhered to.
4. Continually review, design and implement technology best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes.
5. Authoring and updating infrastructure, support and procedures documentation.
6. Able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, including flexibility in working hours to support customers across multiple time zones.
7. Maintain skillset for career growth
8. Ensuring communications are accurate and timely for multiple audiences
9. Develop and maintain strong working relationships across all IT disciplines
10. Work as an escalation path to assist other teams in troubleshooting, resolving problems, and provide long term solutions to those problems.
11. Any other responsibilities as requested.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s Degree in IT Administration or related coursework, or equivalent work experience
* Certifications in Windows Server Systems, Linux Server Systems, and Cloud Computing is a plus.
* 5 Years Windows Systems Administration
* 5 Years Linux Administration
* Working Knowledge of Storage solutions
* Working Knowledge of Cloud technologies
* Working knowledge of ITIL
* Ability to multi-task within related functions
* Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication and customer service skills
* Knowledge of the following: Windows 2008/2012/2016, Linux RHEL/Centos 5-7, Cloud Support (AWS/Azure/GCP), DNS Management, Active Directory, VMware, Infrastructure Monitoring, Networking fundamentals
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
