Diversity in Entertainment Legal Fellowship- Summer 2022 (Hybrid)
Overview
Discovery's Legal Department will offer a fellowship opportunity to a law student from a diverse population that has historically been underrepresented in the legal profession.
Program Details
• The fellowship will be hybrid during the summer, with the expectation that the fellow comes into our NYC office a few times a week, following guidance from their manager
• Fellow will be supervised by SVP in Legal
• Fellow will be compensated at a competitive hourly rate for a corporate legal fellowship
• Discovery will also award a $10,000 Stipend to the Fellow
Hiring Timeline
Fellowship Program Dates: June 1, 2022- August 19, 2022, about 30-40 hours of work per week
Application deadline: Friday, February 18, 2022
Interviewing: Interviewing will take place between late February and mid-March
Decisions: Decisions made by end of March
Responsibilities
Projects will be hands-on and real-world, varying accordingly to the work assignments. As a corporate legal fellow, your adventure could lead you to work on exciting projects and tasks such as:
• Drafting commercial and digital agreements
• Researching novel legal issues relevant to the media industry
• Supporting litigation efforts in a variety of cases, and so much more
Qualifications
* Must be a member of a diverse population that historically has been underrepresented in the legal profession
*Must be a first or second-year law student, in good standing at an ABA accredited law school in the United States (proof of enrollment will be required if selected for the fellowship)
* Must be currently enrolled as a student
* Must have strong college and law school academic performance
* Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
* Must have an interest and/or curiosity in the media industry
* Must have the legal right to work in the US
