This is an incredibly exciting time to join the digital business. As the Sr. Director, Programming & Merchandising, you will play a key role in the evolution and success of Discovery’s TV Everywhere and Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) business.
You will be responsible for programming, publishing and merchandising content in Discovery’s TV Everywhere and Direct-To-Consumer experiences. Under the direction of the VP, you will be responsible for collaborating with and supporting specific networks and creating editorial strategies, events & packages meant to drive engagement and awareness.
You will have a strong understanding of the Digital audience to expose the right content at the right time for consumers to enjoy and come back for more. You will work closely with network programming and social teams as well as both network and digital marketing and analytics teams to ensure that our TVE platforms extend the brands while providing a viewing experience that delights users.

Responsibilities
1. Lead team of content producers in efforts around multi-network presentations, initiatives and packaging.
2. Develop and execute network-specific programming strategies for content based on revenue and other KPIs including viewers and minutes-watched.
3. Partner with VP on long-term network planning to determine schedule direction and needs.
4. Manage publishing of videos using web-based CMS in a deadline driven environment.
5. Oversee development and research of network-specific, or cross-network TVE stunts and events.
6. Collaborate closely with internal teams, including Programming, Marketing, Digital, TV Production, Press, Ad Sales, Distribution, Product & Design and Research. Ensure alignment across key stakeholders through socializing TVE mission and goals.
7. Coordinate with On-Air, Digital, and Social teams on the development and implementation of promotional strategies and commitments.
8. Partner closely with Ad Sales and Marketing teams to maximize revenue opportunities and develop new, unique sponsorship & promotional packages.
9. Evaluate & explain performance across networks on a daily basis, recommending and/or directly implementing changes when appropriate.
10. Delivers internal and external business & programming presentations.
11. Maintain awareness of and leverage the latest TVE and DTC products and programming strategies to maintain high level of content/experience that keeps pace with audience expectations -- ensuring that our offerings are living or heading where the audience will eventually be.
Requirements
* 10 years of digital programming experience, with 7 years in a management role
* Deep expertise in content curation, content mix development
* Excellent headline writing skills and proficiency with MS Office suite, online tracking/reporting tools (Google Analytics), online content management and publishing systems, and Photoshop
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
* Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and priorities
* Openness to criticism and rapid product evolution; able to navigate in a deadline-driven environment with flexibility and agility
* Strategic thinker with a deep business acumen
* Savvy in working with executive-level stakeholders
* Bachelor’s degree in New Media, Journalism, Communication or related field
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
