Part Time Paid Internship
TLC Publicity Intern- Spring 2022 (Virtual)
Overview
Although our spring internship program will be completely remote (students can apply from anywhere), please be aware that this intern will report into an east coast based manager and therefore should expect to work on eastern standard time.
The TLC Communications department works to obtain press coverage for TLC programming. The publicists on the team work strategically to utilize their media contacts to create buzz surrounding all original programming, tag-teaming with the Marketing, Social Media, Digital and Production teams on their publicity campaigns. Our team has achieved press coverage that makes an impact on ratings and helps to garner more fans of our series.
Responsibilities
This internship will be a meaningful and valuable experience because the intern will dig into the bare bones of what the TLC Communications team does. The publicity intern's duties will include compiling a daily press clip report for the internal network, creating media lists, screening episodes to pull clips to pitch to press, managing frequent updates to TLC's press website, photo selection, putting together mailings, attending weekly team meetings and copy-editing press releases. Interns may also have an opportunity to pitch press for local or national coverage for TLC programming, write media alerts and/or press releases and engage with press directly. At the end of the internship, the intern will have mastered a series of tasks necessary for any PR or other entertainment-related entry-level job out of college.
