Responsibilities
Your Role
As Senior Product Designer you’ll to take change of your design work and design great visual customer experiences in a multi-device environment spanning mobile, web, smart TV, OTT devices, tablets, game machines and computers; ensuring that our users have a best-in-class digital experience that is visually exciting and sparks action. This role will also require a level of innovation applied to the design to also think about the future of the product as well as design the current experience to the highest standard. It’s our aim to make Dplay a leading VOD platform in the world.
You will work across product, research, design, tech and business teams to understand the customer needs and business opportunities that will help you design a great visual experience. In this role you will leverage a deep understanding of customer needs, visual design, design thinking, and strategic long-term business thinking to drive the vision, execution of next-generation initiatives, as well as deliver across ongoing releases of Dplay’s Web, Connected TV and mobile app experiences.

Key Accountabilities
• Apply conceptual thinking to create a world-class digital service across multiple platforms, smartly bringing together user needs, business goals and technical feasibility.
• Develop sound visual concepts, with solid design thinking rationale, including the definition of customer needs, task analysis, scenarios and user flows.
• Helping to create, building, maintaining the Dplay Design System.
• Translate concepts into designs that illustrate simplicity despite system complexity
• Develop the Visual Interface Design using best practice, real data and working with User Research to have strong logical thinking behind design choices.
• Work directly with customers, UX Research and UX Designers to design end-to-end experiences using participatory and iterative design techniques, including observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing, and other forms of qualitative and quantitative research to uncover insights, learn about user behaviour and verify design concepts.
• Effectively communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale both verbally and visually.
• Work closely with development teams to ensure that design specifications are implemented.
• Participate as a contributor to an interdisciplinary team that includes other designers, project management, senior stakeholders and software developers.
• Collaborate effectively with remote team members, including designers, researchers, engineering, product management, marketing and others.
• Participate in and contribute to UXD Workshops and Post Project Reviews.
• Play an active role in meetings with the wider business team members.
• Champion a solid design process (Double Diamond) and vocalise opinions and ideas to the business and the project team.
• Continually strive to exceed business goals and expectations.
• When necessary, manage work streams directly within the squad.
• Proactively identify business opportunities.
Required Background and Skills:
• 5 years in-depth knowledge and experience of user interface design with consumer applications, preferably mobile devices, rich web apps/site, interactive TV within the media, telecommunications and broadband industries
• Extensive knowledge and experience with driving and applying user-centred design processes while working collaboratively with customers, along with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management and user research
• Working knowledge of design and prototyping tools, such as Sketch, InVision, Principle, Adobe Creative Cloud and other tools for design and animation
• Proficient in a variety of methods to convey ideas and concepts (e.g. storytelling, storyboards, mood boards, prototypes, etc)
• Demonstrable skills in animation, design systems, iconography are an advantage.
• Knowledge of Television platforms is an advantage.
• Good task management skills.
• Ability to articulate and justify ideas and design solutions to the wider business well.
• Ability to work independently and identify and solve problems effectively and efficiently.
• Be a storyteller – A critical element of all our roles is to deliver insights about people and behaviour – verbally and visually – in a way that generates empathy, emotion, and engagement from the client and design team.
• A strategic perspective on the variety of work that we do. Our work needs to involve strategic thinking based on the insights gathered from the research team. Thus, business, brand, and/or strategic experience are desirable.
Desirable
• Experience of UXD in OTT, online streaming, VOD. Specifically creating designs that: Drive video consumption, Onboard new subscribers to a premium experience, Inform and delight in a multi-language environment
• Experience in running Design workshops
• Good animation skills - Produce animation/motion solutions and demos created in tools like Principle, Framer, 3D or similar software.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills including the ability to present concepts clearly and persuasively to colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
• Willing to drive innovation and customer-centric thinking across the commercial and digital teams.
• Knowledge of web-based technologies and mobile operating systems and platforms and their impact on the feasibility of design solutions, for example, HTML 5, CSS, iOS, Android, and various other technologies are a plus.
