Overview
The Scheduling Coordinator will help the Discovery Channel programming team to strategize and implement the linear schedule. The coordinator will help research and track competitive events and programming to help the team create the strongest possible schedule. In addition, they will closely communicate with production, research, development, press, and digital about upcoming programming plans and alert the teams of any changes. This is an operations-based position which involves entering programming strategy into the scheduling systems and managing inventory systems and content life cycles across all linear and streaming distribution platforms.
A successful person in this role will have excellent problem-solving skills and is a self-starter. They will be organized, and quickly act if any issues arise on the operations side. They will use both creative and analytic thinking to help create a strong schedule that will lead to audience retention and growth.
Responsibilities
• Ensure timely communication of schedules, schedule priorities and schedule changes
• Research and track trends, events, and competitive programming throughout the media landscape
• Strategize and help create revisions, reloads, and repacks using existing content
• Create versions, assets and inventory to schedule in the system (including linear and multiplatform)
• Liaise with operations teams to ensure versions and break formats are all correct
• Work with the Scheduler to input the schedule into the systems
• Ensure that the linear listings are correct across various 3rd party platforms
• Assist in creating purchase orders and processing invoices for multiplatform
Qualifications
• 1-2 years experience in a planning or similar TV role desirable.
• An analytical mind with creative flair.
• Great attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Highly self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Understanding of audience research.
• Experience in Microsoft suite.
• Experience in Google suite.
• Must have legal right to work in the US.
