We are seeking a Production Manager to support the Social and Digital Original Content teams. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day business management and cost control of all the aspects of production happening across the portfolio. The ideal candidate needs to be detailed oriented, proactive and have the ability to get things done quickly and efficiently. This role will be responsible for managing and coordinating all the efforts across the Discovery portfolio of network brands: Science, Animal Planet, Discovery, TLC, ID, Velocity, AHC, Destination America and Discovery Life.
Responsibilities
1. Work in collaboration with the digital team in managing the production budgets across the portfolio with a major focus on financial discipline and efficiency
2. Work with the social producers and original content team to create estimates for production
3. Partner with finance to update the team on the production budgets
4. Oversee all financial matters with vendor production companies, including but not limited to bidding, budget estimates, and overages
5. Communicate on a regular basis with legal and business affairs to assist in preparation of contracts
6. Request purchase orders for all out of house work
7. Check all vendor invoices and approve for payment (in conjunction with the producer)
8. Track all production spending (estimate vs actual)
9. Be the point person for Group 9 (Seeker, Thrillist, The Dodo and Now This) and coordinate all operational efforts with Group 9
Requirements
* Must have 5 years related production experience
* In depth knowledge of digital production
* Must have excellent negotiation skills
* Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast paced and changing environment and be able to work on multiple projects, in various stages of production, simultaneously
* Ability to perform under pressure
* Integrity, strong organizational skills and attention to detail a must
* Proficiency with Excel, Word, Adobe, Lotus Notes, and Outlook. Proficiency with Powerpoint preferred, but not required
* Must be a team player and work with all levels of management
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
