The Media & Still Image Operations team is seeking a talented, collaborative and energetic Photo Producer/Editor & Photographer responsible for creating and commissioning imagery that supports our ever-growing needs across all of Discovery's corporate and content platforms. The successful candidate will possess a diverse range of digital photography experience; specifically, studio and location portraiture, commercial photography, photo production and asset/database management. This role requires a team success mentality with the maturity to operate independently while maintaining and adhering to the existing high-level photography standards.

Responsibilities
Core Photo Producer/Editor Responsibilities
1. Project manage all aspects of photo production, corporate standards and legal processes from the initial shoot request through final post production, delivery and archiving of images
2. Thoroughly review all details of assigned shoot requests, clarifying details (names, titles, locations, dates, etc.) and confirming accuracy ahead of shoot
3. Schedule and facilitate all pre- and postproduction meetings; including a photographer pre-production meeting for each shoot
4. Manage production and delivery databases and calendars for multiple, on-going photo shoots and projects
5. Compile and distribute all project details to internal and external resources. This includes securing all required paperwork (call sheets, shot list, talent/location releases, contractor paperwork, deal memos, sample contact sheets and brand guidelines, permits, insurance certificates, delivery schedule)
6. Research and evaluate skill sets of various photographers based on the specifications of each unique job
7. Negotiate rates, expectations, delivery with photographers and provide critical feedback on delivered content
8. Sourcing, negotiating, hiring and managing all related resources, which may include hair/make-up and prop stylists, location/studio scouts, talent agencies, wardrobe stylists, craft services, transportation services, security services
9. Art direct project, anticipating project needs and provide recommendations to clients and photographer
10. Ensure accuracy, correctness and consistency in all communications and documentations
11. Maintain communication with photographer, clients and manager throughout the lifecycle of each project
12. Manage each project’s budget to include securing estimates, confirmation of deliverables, invoice approval and payment while maintaining budget tracker
13. Oversee all post production:
• Quality management on images, naming conventions and metadata immediately upon delivery, ensuring the proper metadata, copyright, naming conventions are identified and corrected before a single image is distributed
• Review and edit deliverables evaluating the technical quality, aesthetic value and marketability of images
• Providing relevant and timely feedback to photographer/agency
• Work with network representatives to track and secure talent photo approvals
• Facilitate retouching
• Process images and metadata for delivery into the appropriate internal image asset management repositories and backup server
Core Photographer Responsibilities
1. Responsible for managing and successfully executing a broad range of assigned staff photography projects while maintaining the same responsibilities and processes required for commissioned photography outlined above
2. This role requires a lot of high-level visibility as it is based at the headquarters. The successful candidate will serve as an ambassador for the Still Image Management team and SNI and must present his/herself in the most professional and friendly manner at all times, especially during photo shoots. You will often be photographing senior management, VIP guests and talent.
3. Work in partnership and mentorship with Photo Manager and Photo Producer who also serve as staff photographers
4. Maintain the accountability, working status and security at all times of the department or rented/borrowed camera gear, lighting equipment and supplies
5. Consistently manage control over exposure, color accuracy, focus, ISO/grain, composition and lighting
6. Oversee quality control over images, naming conventions, metadata, ensuring timely process and delivery (often staff-photographed projects require same day turnaround)
7. Ability to perform basic post-production and retouch requests – squaring of lines in architectural photos, adding text and logos to photos, cropping to meet print requirements, appropriate use of clone/healing/brush tools, familiarization with layer masks and adjustment layers and strong understanding of layer functionality in Photoshop
8. Possess a high attention to detail when retouching and post-processing images
9. Ability to adapt to, manage and problem-solve situations that may arise during a photo shoot
General Administrative Responsibilites
1. Master all necessary databases and resources used to accomplish responsibilities
2. Maintain and keep current all databases, servers, and trackers
3. Develop brand, show, talent and executive awareness and familiarity
4. Develop and foster respectful and collaborative relationships with colleagues, key business partners and vendors
5. Prepares timely reports on project progress and status and provides to manager
6. Attends all appropriate staff meetings
7. Partner with photo team and Photo Manager, on an ongoing basis, to determine the department's technology and process needs relative to photo production; digital image editing/retouching; asset delivery and management; and digital camera, lighting and studio upgrades
8. Collaborate with Still Image Management team on other projects as Photo Director and Photo Manager assign
Requirements
* Bachelor’s Degree in Photography or equivalent experience
* 4 years as working, professional photographer with a strong portfolio that demonstrates recently shot images with a broad knowledge of lighting and digital photography techniques
• portraits - in studio and environmental
• events using speedlight(s)
• large group photos
• commercial products - in studio/tabletop and environmental
• behind-the-scenes and step-by-step projects
• subjects using off-camera flash
• retouching - befores and afters
* 4 years experience in project management, advanced digital photography and photo production with solid communicative knowledge of photography terminology, understanding of current image capture and post-production software and hardware
* Excellent grasp of great visual communication and the ability to stretch creatively with each new project, while keeping in mind company and client objectives and strategic goals
* Ability to handle camera using manual settings; experience with Nikon dSLRs a plus
* Solid understanding and consistent ability to manage color-balance in camera and during post
* Proficient with both MAC and PC platforms and working knowledge of Adobe CC applications (Photoshop, Camera Raw, Bridge, Lightroom, specifically); Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint); Digital Asset Management Systems and Web Meeting Systems (gotomeeting.com, Skype for Business, Lync, Zoom, etc.)
