Full Time Job
The Manager, Revenue Accounting Policy & Affiliate Compliance role specifically includes but is not limited to: developing complex financial models, managing the compliance process for a portfolio of accounts, financial & trending analysis, revenue recognition support, and audit interpretation. The Manager, Revenue Accounting Policy & Affiliate Compliance will interact regularly with a cross-functional team of internal and external stakeholders and will serve as a primary knowledge source for key financial-related contractual terms and related impacts within areas of revenue accounting.
Responsibilities
Analysis
1. Develop and maintain complex financial models of revenue contract terms using multiple data sources
2. Perform monthly Revenue/Subscriber Flux analysis
3. Analyze historical data to recognize and monitor relevant trends
4. Produce ad hoc analysis to service interdepartmental customers
5. Develop and communicate independent insights to management including potential changes in economic conditions
Compliance/Audits
1. Monitor Affiliate compliance with new and existing legal agreements
2. Read, interpret, and apply contract terms (must demonstrate clear, and supportable judgment)
3. Articulate areas of specific concern, and recommend solutions to management
Financial & Accounting
1. Participate in the accounting review of significant distribution contract renewals
2. Assist the VP, Revenue Accounting Policy & Affiliate Compliance in the review of non-standard revenue contracts for appropriate revenue recognition
3. Calculate, record and monitor revenue accruals and reserves, as needed
4. Participate in the month-end close process
Cross-functional collaboration
1. Work directly with FP&A, Sales, Technical Accounting, Global Business Shared Services, and Legal to support the business, and communicate departmental perspective
2. Work directly with Auditors (Internal/External) to provide information and fieldwork deliverables
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
* BS/BA related discipline from an accredited university
* Minimum of 5 years of experience and a strong understanding of US GAAP and SOX requirements
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role, or similar experience
* CPA required
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
It’s a plus if you have:
* Revenue recognition (ASC 606) accounting experience
* Media and telecommunications industry experience
* Big 4 public accounting background
* Attention to detail, accuracy and strong organizational skills
* Experience with SAP and Blackline
* Excellent analytical skills and critical thinking
* Technically proficient in MS Excel (ability to work with advanced formulas, manipulate and report on high volume data sets, analyze complex financial models, etc)
* Demonstrated ability to create, maintain and enhance complex financial models in Excel
* Ability to read and comprehend intricate legal agreements
* Capable of working with sensitive and confidential topics
* Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Embraces change driven by evolving business initiatives and maintains positivity when time-sensitive milestones shift
* Must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional team members at all levels
* Experience implementing best practices that require significant innovation for improving processes by applying advanced understanding of complex functional/technical and business issues and challenges
