The Sr Manager of Production and Development is key to the creation and developing of new, original programming for the Joint Venture Network as well as working with the team to manage all aspects of original commissioned productions. The Sr. Manager reviews and steers show treatments, scripts, music, production, show cuts to ensure brand specifications and excellent production standards and manages ongoing series. They are also responsible for identifying and developing new talent. This position will be located in Waco, TX.
Responsibilities
1. Work closely with the development team to identify and advance new series proposals.
2. Create and conceptualize series, specials, stunts, franchises, properties, and other programming initiatives for domestic telecast. Research and develop programming ideas including writing requests for proposals and developing internally generated ideas.
3. Generate internal talent ideas and identify new areas to expand the Network brand.
4. Write editorial briefs and conduct outreach to potential talent.
5. Offer editorial input on projects in all stages of development.
6. Direct crews in the field. Manage quick-turnaround edits.
7. Help to pitch developed ideas to the executive team.
8. Work with production teams to communicate editorial vision during the transition into full series production.
9. Serve as network liaison to represent both production and development
10. Develop new relationships and maintain existing relationships with agents, producers, and writers. Build new relationships with potential international and domestic partners.
11. Coordinate with talent relations to secure hosts, new talent, experts and exclusivity deals.
12. Clearly communicate DCI's editorial requirements and standards of quality to outside production companies during earliest stages of development and pre-production.
13. Represent the Network to outside organizations and maintain partnerships both internal and external.
Requirements
* BS/BA in related discipline and at least 5-7 years of experience in related field - OR -
certification is required in some areas
* Knowledge of brand specific history and popular culture related to television programming
* Knowledge of brand specific tools, trends, styles, methods and materials
* Knowledge of the theory and techniques required to produce visual arts
* Knowledge of video/print/media production
* Ability to balance entertainment and information in programming
* Ability to identify, analyze and effectively critique content and storytelling
* Ability to manage the production process from concept to air or to other platforms
* Verbal and written communication, interpersonal, customer service, prioritization, organizational, managerial, and analytical skills.
* Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
* Proficient working with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, MS Outlook
* Strong PC background, with demonstrated proficiency with Windows, Excel, Word, and MS Access
* Capacity to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
* Must be able to work collaboratively with team members
* Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional groups
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
