The Role
The Manager of Media Supply Chain Technology is a member of Discovery Technology Development & Strategy (TDS), Discovery’s internal research and development team. TDS finds and builds new technology solutions that allow Discovery to adapt in a rapidly changing media industry. As part of that group, the Manager oversees the development and operations of Discovery’s media supply chain platform and technology. This includes Discovery’s cloud-based supply chain orchestration platform, SDVI Rally. The Manager will work with an agile development team to design new supply chain features based on user requirements, then build, test, and deploy those features to the supply chain platform. The Manager is responsible for controlling and planning workflow code and feature deployments across all the development groups working within SDVI Rally. He/she builds and maintains workflow architecture documentation and creates feature guides and release notes for the users. The Manager is an organized project planner who can break big ideas down into achievable stories and tasks. He/she is an effective communicator who can clearly express complex ideas both verbally and in writing. The Manager is a capable team player who develops and maintains effective partnerships with other groups both inside and outside of GT&O and Discovery.
Responsibilities
1. Manage the day-to-day operations of Discovery’s cloud-based global delivery supply chain
2. Design and plan new supply chain tools and features
3. Plan, organize, and execute code deployments and releases in the supply chain platform
4. Gather user and business requirements and feedback for development
5. Organize and coordinate the work of an agile development team as they design, build, test, and deploy new products and features in Discovery’s supply chain
6. Create and maintain documentation on supply chain design
7. Build user documentation for new supply chain features
8. Support the supply chain platform and its users, troubleshooting supply chain failures and working with the development team to quickly correct any issues
Requirements
* 3 years of experience in either media engineering, post production, media technology, or technical project management
* Bachelor’s degree in media, telecommunications, engineering, or technical project management
* Hands-on experience working with common television production and post production tools, file-based workflows, and media asset management systems
* Experience working with agile development teams
* Intermediate knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, and the Microsoft Office product family
* Experience and basic competency in a general-purpose programming language (Python, JavaScript, Java)
* Must be willing to travel as required
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
