Live Event Lead
The London-based Digital & Technology department is Discovery’s centre-of-excellence for digital product development and user engagement. We innovate and bring to life transformational video-on-demand products–redefining how lovers of Discovery’s content engage with the shows they know and love across the globe. As the Digital & Technology team continues to grow we’re now on the lookout for an enthusiastic, detailed orientated Live Event Lead to support the Dplay Operation.
The Live Event lead will support the day-to-day running of live events on the Dplay service across multiple platforms and territories and ensure that we deliver a high-quality service to the end user, and to ensure that all live events on the service meets the business needs. This position is a stakeholder facing role and requires that you establish and manage expectations within the business and drive the Tech Operations team to achieve those expectations to a high standard. The primary role will be to support Live events, and make sure that all live events are planned, resources and coordinated to ensure that the customer have the best possible experience.
This position is a 1 year fixed contract with possibility of extension.
Responsibilities
• Joint responsibility of Live events prep tracker
• Prepare, coordinate and communicate upcoming live events across platforms and ensure major events are entered on the release calendar
• Co-ordinate and host live event prep calls with all teams to ensure events are validated and resources
• Create production plans ahead of events to ensure all processes are ready ahead of live events as well as making sure all key contacts have visibility of plans ahead of live events
• Lead the live event bridge call and ensure all key representatives across departments are included
• Ensure communication of the policy of Work with TOC and ensure events are supported on event days
• Trouble shoot and follow up on potential issues during and after live event and create detailed report after each event day, and escalate to TechOps team, internal and third-party teams to ensure issues are handled accordingly
• Assist in maintaining high performing service on live events for Dplay
Performance & Quality
• Make recommendations for improvements to planning, coordination and communication ahead of live events
• Work with internal and third-party teams to ensure actions are taken and completed to protect and improve live events
• Provide regular and accurate management reporting on workflows, live events and processes
• Able to manage and prioritise tasks and time efficiently
• Able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks
Role Specific Experience / Skills:
• 2 year experience within an operational capacity in media, sporting or technology company preferred
• Understanding of Confluence and Jira
• Previous work with live event management
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in working with multiple devices and digital platforms
• Interest in sport is ideal
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work well in a matrix environment with internationally based teams
• A proven track record of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
• Desire to take on extra responsibility and work under own initiative
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office or Apple equivalent, Slack, Outlook, Zoom.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and take initiative, a self-starter
• Working for a global company (maybe required to travel to other office locations).
• An interest in sport is highly recommended
• In depth understanding of digital and broadcast technology
