Discovery, Inc., the new global leader in real life entertainment with powerful brands such as Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, HGTV, Food Network, and Travel Channel, is searching for a Financial Analyst – Revenue Accounting Policy & Affiliate Compliance in Knoxville, TN to join our Corporate Accounting team.

The Financial Analyst role specifically includes but is not limited to: assisting with financial models, actively participating in the compliance process for a portfolio of accounts, financial & trending analysis, revenue recognition support, and month-end close participation.
Responsibilities
• Analysis
o Assist with developing and maintaining complex financial models of revenue contract terms using multiple data sources
o Assist with monthly Revenue/Subscriber Flux analysis
o Analyze historical data to recognize and monitor relevant trends
o Produce ad hoc analysis to service interdepartmental customers
• Compliance/Audits
o Assist in the monitoring of Affiliate compliance with new and existing legal agreements
o Prepare documentation for affiliate audit process
• Financial & Accounting
o Participate in the accounting review of significant distribution contract renewals
o Calculate, record and monitor revenue accruals and reserves, as needed
o Prepare assigned account reconciliations
o Participate in the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries
o Clear review notes from management level reviews
• Cross-functional collaboration
o At times, may be required to work directly with FP&A, Global Business Shared Services, Technical Accounting, Sales and/or Legal to perform job functions
o Work directly with Auditors (Internal/External) to provide information and fieldwork deliverables
• Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
• BS/BA in related discipline from an accredited university
• 1-2 years prior work experience, internships inclusive
• Path to CPA required
• Must have the legal right to work in the United States
It’s a plus if you have:
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and critical thinking
• Advanced knowledge in working with complex spreadsheets and/or experience in robotics/automation
• Proficient in MS Excel, including advanced formulas and data analysis
• Experience with SAP and Blackline
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Embraces change driven by evolving business initiatives and maintains positivity when time-sensitive milestones shift
• Must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional team members at all levels
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
• Ability to work efficiently, and design/implement process improvements
• Highly organized and able to execute priorities effectively
• Capable of working with sensitive and confidential topics
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
