Full Time Job
The Director of Sales in Discovery Golf’s commercial team will be responsible for advertising and sponsorship revenue generation for the Golf Digest property and will be tasked with developing the commercial strategy to drive revenue growth for the business.
S/he will be expected to develop direct relationships with brands and agencies and build a portfolio of business. This person will strategically identify potential clients, develop a relationship, pitch advertising and sponsorship opportunities, and close business.
This role will initially be responsible for the North American region and is expected to work closely with Discovery Golf’s international properties to help maximize revenue across all properties.
This person must have a strong digital sales background with experience in closing complex, multi-platform deals. A proven track record in selling digital advertising and sponsorship with experience in selling sports properties is required.
Responsibilities
1. Achieve revenue and budget objectives for digital advertising and sponsorship sales on Discovery’s Golf platforms, specifically focused on Golf Digest
2. Develop a go-to-market strategy for Golf Digest’s digital assets
3. Build a strong network of agency relationships to drive agency led business
4. Manage client and agency relationships to ensure year on year growth of revenue
5. Create and develop new advertising and sponsorship concepts, enabling incremental revenue growth
6. Coordinate and manage relationships with agency resellers and other golf stakeholders such as PGA TOUR to ensure there is a coordinated approach to sales
7. Enable and encourage team coordination and continuous communication across the sales team in all Discovery global regions, specifically with GOLFTV
Requirements
* Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in the sports industry, within the golf space
* Extensive experience in direct selling to clients and via agency network
* A strong negotiator with a proven record of closing sales deals to meet and exceed revenue targets
* Ability to handle difficult situations and stay calm under pressure
* Strong relationship management with internal and external clients as well as key stakeholders
* A strategic and creative approach to deliver on results
* Fluency in English language
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to juggle multiple priorities while working to tight deadlines
* A strong team player, collaborating with colleagues in multiple locations
* Comfortable working in fast-paced, start-up environment
* Understanding of branding, communications and ad sales process
* Willingness to travel
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
