General Summary:
This role will serve to represent the interests of the golf business within the wider Discovery organization, to ensure transparency for the Discovery Golf and Discovery Latin America management teams. The Director will help to communicate the goals and objectives of Discovery Golf to the local teams focused on media distribution, marketing, partnerships, ad sales, and account management. Additionally, the individual will identify emerging opportunities in region and communicate those back to the central Discovery Golf teams in London and New York. This role is multidisciplinary and will involve elements of marketing, ad sales, sponsorships, media distribution, and partnership management. Influence Discovery Golf Content decisions to ensure appropriate content is delivered to Latin American consumers.
Responsibilities
1. Coordinate with management teams of Discovery Golf and Discovery LatAm to develop strategies for optimizing Discovery’s golf business in Latin America, including evaluating interplay between linear and digital offerings
2. Contribute to setting linear distribution strategy across cable affiliates and free-to-air broadcasters, including developing commercial proposals for negotiations and participating in such negotiations
3. Identify, evaluate, and participate in negotiation and execution of digital distribution partnerships with affiliates, golf associations, and others
4. Collaborate in the development of integrated ad sales strategy across linear and digital platforms
5. Analyse, define, and execute on opportunities for Discovery Golf to generate incremental content and revenue in LatAm region
6. Build and manage relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders across Discovery and the broader Latin American and global golf ecosystem (e.g., golf federations, PGA TOUR, The R&A, Golf Channel U.S., etc.)
7. Manage business roadmap, getting internal consensus and incorporating feedback from a range of sources to ensure business objectives are being met
8. Source market data and conduct independent research
9. Interface with internal and external international stakeholders
Requirements
* Native/Fluent English and Spanish language skills
* Deep understanding of and passion for the golf industry
* Experience in managing and/or coordinating cross-functional teams
* Excellent written and oral communication. Need to be able to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audience
* Excellent decision making and judgment
* Strong stakeholder management
* Able to apply sound judgment to make decisions in line with overall development strategy and process
* Ability to multi-task and proactively manage a variety of projects and timelines
* Fast thinker and problem solver
* Willingness to travel in-region up to 1 week/month
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
