Full Time Job
Support the GM and the VP of Programming & Strategy to ensure the efficient execution of network business operations and development of strategic plans and presentations. Oversees, analyzes and provides insight on brand inventory and its performance tracking on multiple fronts. Act as main contact for network strategy and communicate updates to all departments as necessary. Oversee content budget and work closely with finance to ensure network is working within financial targets.
Responsibilities
1. Work with GM and VP Programming and Strategy on all strategic and business planning. Includes building presentations for Board of Directors and senior management, creation of ad-hoc business strategy presentations as well as special projects. Includes preparation of all materials.
2. Work with GM and VP Programming and Strategy to articulate and communicate on a regular basis TRVL’s network strategy and priorities to the team and senior management.
3. Work with Finance on network P&L and long-range strategic planning.
4. Act as liaison with DNI on all issues related to the partnership and brand building.
5. Work across network teams to develop and communicate annual goals and tactics. Throughout the year, ensure goal alignment and/or make adjustments as needed.
6. Develop weekly updates for GM and drive the agenda during Dept Head meetings.
7. Work with senior team to create and manage network team offsites, post mortems and other key network events.
8. Work closely with research to develop and drive focus group testing of shows, concepts, and/or brand related inquiries.
9. Work with Scheduling to develop and implement program schedule that supports network strategy and results in the highest possible ratings and performance.
10. Develop and execute digital and GO strategy working closely with the digital team.
11. Negotiates for resources and priorities, with senior management and partners, that affect functions performance.
12. Makes recommendations regarding potential usage of assets on hiatus or those that need to be retired. Performs quarterly asset impairment review of brand’s programming still in amortization.
13. Identifies programming that may need to be retired &/or written off in order for management to determine final action.
14. Consults with or assists Business Affairs and Legal as needed, including program restrictions, inquiries or issues with programming. Adds pertinent information to the e-search database to alert other potential users in multiple media platforms.
Requirements
* 7 years experience working in a business development and/or operational capacity in a cable network preferred
* 7 years experience with unscripted television production and distribution
* Prior experience with managing budgets and P&Ls
* Solid understanding of large cable television organizations
* Demonstrated ability to formulate long-term strategies for growth through the development of new platforms and products
* Exceptional leadership, management and organizational skills
* Excellent written presentation skills
* Highly developed written and verbal communications skills
* Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, staff and external parties
* Must have legal right to work in the United States
