As a Director on our DTC Strategy team, you will be joining a team responsible for developing and implementing content and distribution strategy across Discovery’s global DTC portfolio. This role in particular will be focused on our DTC Partnerships & Advanced Advertising Strategy. The right person for this role is the kind of person who obsesses over details, thrives in a collaborative environment, and jumps at the opportunity to take on new challenges. This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of the highest priority new business initiative at Discovery.
Responsibilities
• Establish a data-driven approach to inform and build overall partnerships strategy to increase subscriber acquisition, retention, and engagement
• Support the Partnerships teams in key strategic initiatives, including such projects as developing a partner prioritization framework, assessing viability of different distribution channels, and defining a partnerships strategy that sets Discovery up for both near- and long-term success
• Support the Digital Ad Sales and Ad Product team in identifying opportunities to improve ad monetization, including sponsorship / original content integration, digital inventory optimization, quantifying impact of ad products to aid roadmap prioritization, and other ad hoc projects.
• Help ensure these strategies are executed once proper buy-in and support has been secured
• Develop frameworks for ongoing performance evaluation, working directly with the BI, Finance, and Data teams to monitor and optimize initiatives
• Establish strong working relationships with the Partnerships teams to become a strategic thought partner to all aspects of their businesses
• Work closely with other departments, especially Distribution, Digital Ad Sales, Ad Product & Ad Tech, Data & Analytics, and Finance to arm leadership with all the right information to guide decision-making
• Create materials for Discovery Board meetings and other leadership meetings
• Coach and mentor junior members of the Strategy team as they hone their skill sets and build their careers
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 6 years of work experience, including 2-3 years in Consulting, Investment Banking, and/or Corporate Strategy
• Streaming experience required
• Excellent analytical skills and financial modeling capabilities, with a deep attention to detail
• Superior ability to synthesize the output from analyses, identify the “so-what,” develop early hypotheses, and propose the next line of inquiry
• Experience in building executive-level PowerPoint presentations
• Ability to work and drive analyses independently
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Team player
• Must have the legal right to work in the United States
