Full Time Job
The Development Coordinator for Discovery Channel will work with the development team to coordinate the overall development process for the network and function to meet business initiatives, standards for quality, value, and innovation. In addition, this role will be responsible for administrative support to the development team.
Responsibilities
1. Work closely with internal programming staff, internal DCL representatives across various departments and external production companies.
2. Assist with the overall development process throughout the entire creative and production cycle.
3. Field calls and questions - both solicited and unsolicited - from outside producers regarding proposals and the network's programming needs.
4. Create Project Notification Forms and development deal forms in Program Tracking and send out pass letters. Maintain and update Submissions and Program Tracking for Development team.
5. Participate in weekly development meetings. Maintain department database for projects under consideration.
7. Liaise with outside production companies as necessary to set up meetings.
8. Create and maintain all departmental documents and resources including departmental reports and agendas for meetings.
9. Conduct category and content research. Support Development staff with presentation projects as needed. Participate and strategize with teams on new categories for future opportunities.
10. Coordinate departmental events.
11. Assist in conducting editorial research on internally developed program ideas.
12. Administrative work including travel, reports, scheduling, rolling calls, coordinating meetings.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of skills, training, and experience is needed.
* A minimum of three years experience in general entertainment, non-fiction genres and/or documentary television is needed.
* Knowledge of all aspects of production and post-production is a plus.
* Must have editorial judgment and strong verbal & written communication skills.
*Must have a strong attention to detail and robust organization skills.
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
