The Design Project Specialist will directly support the Associate Art Director and Creative Services Director in the daily management of various projects as part of the Ad Sales Design team, which includes hands-on design and execution of various sales and marketing projects across Discovery’s portfolio of networks. The Design Project Specialist must be highly organized and possess skills in prioritization, workload management, documentation, design feedback, and communication. Great interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work as a team on time-sensitive projects while maintaining a calm and respectful, team-oriented professional work environment are integral to this position.
Responsibilities
1. Assist Assoc. Art Director and Creative Services Director in all aspects of design and project management
2. Work with the Ad Sales Marketing and Ad Sales teams to conceptualize, design, and deliver sales material (RFP responses, client presentations, digital / print projects, e-mail blasts, invitations, newsletters, event material, etc.)
3. Day-to-day project management of the Design team and Ad Sales projects, providing review and critiques while maintaining production schedules/updates with Ad Sales
4. Present ideas and designs to Ad Sales team on an ongoing basis
5. Proactively drive schedules while being able to quickly react to changing business needs
6. Ideate on business strategy and support Ad Sales in creating cohesive messaging
7. Become proficient in cloud-based presentation software tool and other support applications
8. Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned or as become evident
Requirements
* Must possess excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to interact with all levels of management, staff, and external vendors
* Attention to detail and the ability to develop and encourage compelling and functional visuals
* Ability to remain calm under high-pressure deadlines while upholding staff and client expectations
* Excellent time management and problem-solving skills: ability to schedule team members’ time on projects, manage/traffic multiple projects at once; prioritize projects and work-flow based on business needs
* Ability to foster a creative and collaborative team environment keeping staff motivated and enthusiastic
* Copywriting and editing skills preferred
* A sense of humor is appreciated
* Hands on design is required of this job; designing presentations and corporate promotional material using software including, but not limited to: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, PowerPoint
* Experience and knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Microsoft Office
* Knowledge of After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and Keynote preferred
* Mac/PC proficient
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
* Four Year college degree (Graphic design, Advertising, or Marketing preferred)
* 2-4 years of design, advertising, or media industry experience required
