Discovery is seeking a high-performance team member needed to ingest, organize, coordinate and perform digital recipe production activities for Discovery Food websites, applications and other digital distribution methods as business dictates, as well as program owned and operated platforms. Position is integral to the success of Food Network and Cooking Channel’s digital strategy.
Reporting to the Food Network Programming Manager, the Associate Editor will work collaboratively with members of Food Network’s and Cooking Channel's digital programming and editorial teams to ensure deadlines are met. This person must develop and maintain an effective working relationship with various Enterprise teams (Video, Affiliate Sales, Search), Culinary Editors and the Food Network and Cooking Channel Programming teams in Knoxville, TN and New York City, NY.
Responsibilities
1. Prioritize, coordinate and complete all aspects of recipe system production and other special projects, using rDAM (Scripps Show Related Recipe Information System) and various custom applications including RMA (Recipe Asset Management Tool), Adobe CQ Content Management System and Metadata Tools, ensuring timelines are met and data quality is achieved. This includes:
• Entering new recipes
• Selecting and updating appropriate recipe metadata to ensure optimal search results
• Attaching show information and ensuring recipes deliver on time for television premieres
• Fixing recipe errors that come in from Customer Service
2. Work collaboratively with the image and video ingestion teams to manage digital images and videos from all sources using rDAM, MediaDesk and AEM.
3. Archive and apply metadata to wide range of recipe asset types, including: shows, cookbooks, and custom digitally developed recipes.
4. Manage workflow for recipe asset ingestion, metadata automation, and hierarchy integrity.
5. Proactively problem solve system, recipe and digital asset production issues. Work collaboratively with Food Network’s Digital Product Team as well as Scripps Networks Interactive Enterprise teams and maintain on-going communication between each.
6. Update system documentation as needed. Track and report metrics on a regular basis.
7. Write and produce recipe and cooking content, such as blog posts and photo galleries.
8. Identify, write about and promote recipe and lifestyle trends, as well as pop culture.
9. Write and edit copy to fit products and emerging platforms.
Requirements
* Knowledge of web and mobile technologies, media production, web design, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to coordinate and prioritize large and diverse workload to meet deadlines.
* Initiative to work independently and proactively, and ability to assess and prioritize information.
* Strong writing skills, specifically to fit the voice of the overall brand/site strategy.
* Broad understanding of online recipe content and metadata strategies.
* Ability to manage and thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
* Knowledge of primary research, writing, editing, and copy style.
* Ability to manage work of self and others.
* Advanced attention to detail.
* Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
* Strong industry experience—web, entertainment/lifestyle media, new platforms (mobile, social, etc.), product development—is required. Background in food/recipes/cooking is also key.
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
