This Position is for a Systems Administrator, focusing primarily on Linux infrastructure systems support. However, this Position will operate in a heterogeneous environment, including Linux, Macintosh, and Windows. As a member of the Systems Administration team, this Position will be expected to participate in maintenance, administration, troubleshooting, and building systems in all of these platforms. The current count is approximately 600 workstations, including two render farms.
While the Position will be primarily focused on servers, centrally controlled systems, and deployment of services to end users, this Position will also be expected to provide second-level support to first-level Systems Technicians and to collaborate with all members of the Systems Technology, Media Services, and Production Services teams to ensure smooth operations and stability of the environment in support of the facility's digital entertainment production and related lines of business.
The Position will be expected to support Active Directory, TCP/IP Infrastructure, e-mail systems, outsourced/SaaS/cloud-based system, security, and storage, and, in all environments, server installations and service provisioning, workstation imaging, application installation and deployment, and other core corporate/application network services. The position will be responsible for administration and monitoring, as well as upgrades and migrations.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
• Responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing, corporate servers and installed software.
• Supports infrastructure maintenance and upgrades and data management for Active Directory, including LDAP integration of Linux and Macintosh systems. Supports integration and domain migration projects.
• Provides installation, configuration, management, upgrades, and support for core systems such as e-mail, pipeline automation, antivirus protection, and so on.
• Administers, supports, and maintains VM environment, currently VMware vSphere vCenter, on ESXi4 hypervisors.
• Develops, supports, and maintains scripts for administration, automation, update, and configuration of client platforms and servers.
• Develops and administers workstation configuration tools such as Active Directory GPO's, Puppet, Microsoft SCCM, and ScriptLogic Desktop Authority.
• Provides second level support for Systems Technicians.
• Supports networking, storage, and other infrastructure projects.
• Maintains and deploys operating system patches and updates.
• Administers and updates workstation and laptop images.
• Monitors software usage and inventory.
• Validates patches, applications, new software version releases against existing system images.

• Documents system installations, configurations, policies and procedures.
• Coordinates and participates in multi-site operations, implementations, and other projects.
• Test and implement new hardware and software systems; participates in technology analysis for future changes.
• Defines and successfully executes projects
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience Required:
• Ability to independently implement, troubleshoot, configure, standardize, and manage Linux and Windows servers and workstations.
• Significant Linux experience required. CentOS or RHEL v5 and v6 experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with blade servers helpful.
• Experience with virtualization helpful.
• Experience with monitoring systems (servers, clients) for pre-emptive problem resolution, performance tuning, and fault resolution.
• Experience with e-mail system administration, including Exchange and SendMail
• Experience with image deployment technologies such as DD, syslinux and kickstart required; experience with SCCM desired.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting experience - both hardware and software.
• Significant and thorough knowledge of TCP/IP and related protocols: DHCP, DNS, WINS, PXE, LDAP, NTP, SNMP, HTTP, SMTP.
• LAN/VLAN and routed network experience desired. VPN and some WAN experience preferred. Experience with Foundry networking equipment preferred.
• Strong experience with scripting to perform administrative functions. Linux shell (BASH) scripting required. Windows CMD scripts required; Powershell experience preferred.
• Python scripting experience preferred.
• Experience with security and permissions techniques - UID/GID, ACL's, certificates, encryption, Kerberos required.
• Experience with SAN and NAS environments, supporting heterogeneous platforms. Thorough understanding of NFS, CIFS, SMB, EXT3, EXT4, HFS+, and NTFS required. NetApp and Isilon experience preferred.
• Experience with implementing and managing IIS and Apache and experience in implementing web sites preferred.
• Windows Systems Administration, including Server 2003 and 2008; experience with GPO development and administration preferred.
• Multi-site and replication experience desired.
• Database experience desired.
• Familiarity with Linux software deployment and centralized management tools required. SCCM experience preferred.
• Experience with Digital Domain Linux application environment preferred.
• Substantial experience with creating documentation - both text and diagrams - required; Visio skills preferred.
• Some experience with software development and package management tools helpful; experience with RPM Package Manager and YUM strongly desired. Some InstallShield experience preferred.
• Experience with Helpdesk/Ticketing systems required.
• Experience with Asset Management systems required.
• Experience with floating license management such as RLM and FlexLM required.
• Experience with physical environment planning, analysis, design, and implementation; experience with copper and fibre cabling and cable management techniques.
• Experience with network monitoring and intrusion detection.
• Some experience with high-end graphics and render farms desired.
• Experience managing and resolving problems with printers and print queues preferred. CUPS experience desired.
• Significant experience troubleshooting network, OS, and related issues required.
• Ability to mentor and coach less experienced staff required.
• Experience with DIY Linux distributions (LFS, Gentoo, Arch) a plus.
• Preferred BA/BS with a technical major, such as engineering, computer science or equivalent; relevant industry experience required.
• Redhat Certifications (RHCE, RHCSA) strongly preferred.
• Microsoft Certifications a plus.
