JOB SUMMARY:
The Detroit Tigers are looking to add a part-time creative, energetic and dedicated ''PAWS'' mascot performer to the Promotions, Special Events and Entertainment team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform as the Tigers official mascot ''PAWS'' at community events and Detroit Tigers home games. Tasks include:
1. Community Events performances: Parades, Little League Opening Days, School Assemblies, Corporate Gatherings, Birthday Parties, and other special appearance requests. Community appearances require performer to interact with Tiger fans of all ages – Posing for pictures, dancing, and performing humorous skits.
2. Detroit Tigers home games: Welcoming fans to Comerica Park. Initiating chants, claps, and cheers to get the crowd excited during key baseball moments. Also participate in pre-game ceremonies, between inning giveaways, and 7th inning stretch.
3. Preparation: Work with the Promotions Staff (including the Tigers Energy Squad) to design, develop and implement mascot-related promotional activities that are fun, interactive, and entertaining.
4. Assist the Detroit Tigers Front Office on administrative duties such as creating a monthly availability schedule for community appearance.
5. Maintain cleanliness and groomed appearance of ''PAWS'' costumes.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. The ideal candidate must have significant experience performing in front of large crowds.
2. Creativity, dancing ability, consistency and an ability to communicate through body language are extremely important, as is an outgoing & creative personality.
3. Candidate must have physical stamina to perform and remain on their feet for at least an hour at a time in all types of environments: Indoor, outdoor, cold, hot.
4. In addition to weekdays, candidate must be available to work most weekends and holidays.
5. Prior mascot related experience (Collegiate or professional) is required.
6. Some previous customer service experience is preferred.
