Stereographer / 2D-3D Conversion

This is a Full Time Job

The Stereographer is responsible for leading Stereo Conversion teams reviewing all shots for technical accuracy prior to delivery to client. They will also be involved in review sessions with client studios and be responsible for communicating those requests to artists. Finally, the Stereographer will be responsible for ensuring that artists understand the change requests and work with the compositing supervisor to confirm that the changes are implemented.

The Stereographer is also responsible for working together with the Pipeline Supervisor, VFX Supervisor and other team leads to define, improve, implement and support the pipeline, software, and hardware for the creation of stereoscopic feature conversions.

Primary Responsibilities

* Works with the Director/Studio to determine the scope of work for each 2D to 3D conversion title, works with production team to establish costs and pipeline and develop a stereoscopic script/depth plan that supports the storytelling of the film

* Supervises and optimizes the implementation of this stereo continuity depth script across an entire title.

* Determines the best tools, techniques, treatments, and work flow approach to solving the complexity requirements for converting each project segment and communicates this to critical staff across all production facilities.

* Leads stereoscopic reviews and give all creative notes and technical direction on shots

* Runs stereoscopic screenings and meetings

* Gives expert advice regarding stereoscopic technology: hardware, software, tools, and peripherals

* Develops stereoscopic 3D related software tools as well as VFX/Pipeline tools, working with VFX Supervisor, Pipeline Supervisor and R&D team leads.

* Keeps track of all new technologies and ascertains best practices.

* Regularly reviews completed sequences to ensure that all quality standards and client expectations have been met.

* Supervises all Stereo Conversion Leads

Qualifications
* Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent experience.

* Minimum of 5 years experience in Stereo VFX work, especially Stereo Conversion projects, including leading teams and supervision experience

* Experience with 2d and 3d stereoscopic compositing, animation and related softwares required including Nuke, After Effects, Mocha, Silhouette, Shake and Maya.

* Familiarity with editorial processes and stereoscopic display/projection technologies

* Must have experience in dealing with outside vendors and teams and communicating clearly across large teams.

* Flexibility to work extended hours and/or weekends to meet project deadlines.

DESIRED SKILLS AND PLUSES:

* Practical experience creating tools, automating processes, and solving problems with MEL, Python and shell scripting desired.

* Practical camera skills including live action Stereography and VFX Supervision experience

* Experience as a stereo technologist developing software and toolsets.
