Job duties and responsibilities
• Responsible for the management of the compositing team on a per project basis, maintaining the highest level of creative quality for the compositing work as well as color continuity
Comp supervisor skills
• high level of creative, aesthetic and technical abilities
• managing a team of artists on a technical and an aesthetic point of view; mentoring and guiding the artists to build a strong, cohesive team
• anticipate comp and team challenges; work with production to avoid and resolve such challenges
• setting up a show - color pipeline, representations, stereo (if appropriate), crewing
• ensuring deliverables are to the highest creative and technical standards
• presenting work clearly in dailies and walkthroughs, taking direction and responding to the VFX supervisor appropriately and in a timely fashion
• evaluating artists' skills and what identifying what areas in which they need to improve
• exercises close attention to detail
• being proactive with team members, production to ensure smooth delivery of work
Comp senior artist skills
• matching color, lighting, and exposure of stock elements to rendered or photographed elements
• matte extractions from blue/green screen photography
• executing Paint fixes and rotoscoping
• clean and efficient script organization (minimum number of nodes to get a result)
• transforming and warping elements as needed
• utilizing concepts in:
• 2D/3D camera tracking and stabilization concepts
• 3D in Nuke – using correct math for 3D renders and AOVs
• grain and degrain as necessary
• plate speed up/slow down manipulation
• matte edge processing and integration
• QC black levels, grain, color, mattes, etc.
Education
, experience, and skills required
• 2D/3D camera tracking and stabilization concepts
• expert knowledge of Nuke, with minimum 3 years of node-based compositing software experience
• minimum 3 years Comp Supervisor experience in feature films/TV Episodics/Commercials
• experience with Keylight, Primatte or Ultimatte
• knowledge of projection mapping
• Deep compositing knowledge is a plus
• Scripting knowledge and tools development is a plus.
• Knowledge in 3D packages is a plus: Maya, Houdini, Cinema4D, etc.
• sound aesthetic with good understanding of color, contrast, and lighting design
• knowledge of film resolution and aspect ratios, cameras and Lenses.

• team leader player with outstanding attitude
• dependable, flexible, and able to take direction well from VFX Supervisor
