We have an opening for a Lead Re-recording Mixer. This position will be located in Hollywood, CA.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Lead Re-recording Mixer with experience in mixing original and localized audio for features, television, promos, and Internet content. The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of current audio production workflows as well as the latest software, plug-ins, and control surfaces for mixing immersive content and should be comfortable training, supervising and critiquing other mixers. This role is client-facing, so candidates should have experience working directly with studio personnel, and prior relationships with major studio clients are preferred.
Primary Responsibilities
• Train Deluxe in-house and freelance mixers on mixing workflows, techniques, and standards.
• Supervise freelance mixers.
• Evaluate in-house mixes to ensure that they meet the quality standards of Deluxe and its clients and offer feedback to the mixer.
• Work with studio clients and Deluxe account management to meet the specifications and vision for each project.
• Work within pre-estimated budgets and timelines.
• Mix original content, including stems, final composite, and fully filled M&E in 5.1, 7.1, Dolby ATMOS, and other immersive formats.
• Mix foreign dialog with supplied fully-filled M&E to match the original composite mix.
• Review mix notes from studios and third parties and address as needed.
• Edit, synchronize, and convert audio utilizing the latest version of Pro Tools.
• QC original version, foreign, and legacy audio for sync and anomalies and provide quality ratings and recommendations.
• Create audio assets that conform to client specifications and are ready for delivery.
• Maintain productive and positive working relationships with clients to encourage their return for future projects.
• The ability to interpret technical terms and processes and render them comprehensible to clients and Deluxe account management is essential.
• Provide informed, thorough information to account management and clients regarding audio and source element issues and suggest recommendations for addressing them.
• Utilize Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Excel, in order to create audio QC logs and/or metadata sheets.
• Work closely with the Engineering department to ensure that equipment is properly maintained and upgraded.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Minimum 10-15 years of experience in an audio post-production environment.
• B.S. degree in computer science or programming, electronics or A/V technology related field (or equivalent experience).
• Individual must possess a fundamental understanding of digital audio and video signals, standards, and machines.
• Strong and efficient computer literacy (Pro Tools, Word, Excel, Mac and PC required, plus experience with project management and database software).
• Possess a working knowledge of NTSC, PAL, and HD audio/video formats, file types and resolutions, file rendering, and frame rates.
• Position requires a high level of ingenuity (using the different tools at the operator's disposal) in order to achieve the highest quality audio results.
• As all of our work is schedule and customer satisfaction driven, reliability and timeliness are very critical.
• Must possess exceptional communication skills: a high level of written, verbal, negotiation, presentation, and analytical ability is imperative.
• Must have demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize and be extremely detail-oriented.
• Individual will work in a fast-paced, small team environment. Individual will be dealing directly with other technical, creative and operations employees on a regular basis, but must also be able to work independently.
• Must be able to follow instructions and handle multiple projects in a busy production environment.
• Must be willing to work day, night, or weekend shifts and be flexible to work extended hours to meet project deadlines.
