Position: Compositing Supervisor
Location: Vancouver, Canada
Facility: Encore VFX
We have an opening for a Compositing Supervisor. This position will be located in Vancouver, Canada. This is a full-time salaried position requiring overtime as needed.
SUMMARY:
The Compositing Supervisor is responsible for the management of the compositing team, the quality of the compositing work, and the overview of the color continuity on a variety of shows, predominantly episodic television series.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Communicate and delegate the compositing needs of the show to the team.
• Represent the voice of the compositing crew with respect to workload and pipeline.
• Manage both hands-on operation of a workstation as well as the administration duties, including mentoring artists, monitoring shot progress, monitoring show resource usage, and gauging deliverables with Production Management.
• Serve as a key front-line representative of the company.
• Communicate with our Burbank studio headquarter representatives, including the Executive Creative Director, VFX Supervisors, Compositing Supervisors, Head of Technology, and Show Producers, as necessary.
• Maintain a highly professional demeanor and level of diplomacy.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
• Ensure that the quality of work from the compositing team is of the highest of standards.
• Develop workflow and pipeline strategies in order to ensure proper workflow methodology for all artists.
• Provide ongoing information and feedback locally to the Executive Producer and Production Management team, flagging areas in need of improvement, etc., within the Compositing Department.
• Composite with Nuke.
• Work closely with the CG team to ensure proper flow and execution of CG elements for compositing.
COMPETENCIES:
• Possess extremely strong technical and leadership capabilities.
• Solid experience in leading and training teams of compositors.
• Excellent communication skills, artistic skills, and time management.
• Proven ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Expert knowledge of Nuke.
• High level of experience in an episodic television environment.
• Strong understanding of color correction, blue & green screen, roto, mattes and tracking technologies.
