Part Time Unpaid Internship
This is an UNPAID Internship - Must Meet the following requirements
Minimum Requirements:
• Ability to work non-traditional and long hours including evening and weekends
• Students must be currently enrolled at an accredited university; in an undergraduate or graduate degree program
• Must be able to meet the following criteria through the accredited university:
• Must be enrolled in class at University to receive school credit and related to their field of study with their Intern position
• Documents are required by University to be completed by manager & approved by HR
• University project requirements/assignments must be made available to Dallas Wings HR at completion of the internship
• Students should be pursuing a Business Administration, Advertising, Public Relations or Marketing degree. (preferred)
• Cover letter indicating your position(s) of interest and resume
• Strong customer / member service skills
• Ability to work in a supportive team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Community Relations Intern
Areas you will be learning about:
• Building and implementing plans for non-profit programs and events
• Coordinating events and charity auctions
• Build strong project management skills
• Work on concurrent high-priority projects and execute high impact community programs
Learning Opportunities:
• Work closely with the Director of Community Engagement on fulfilling projects, events and activations in the community.
• Observe and practice project management and event execution
• Observe and practice community relations processes with youth sports, youth activities and special events.
• Observe and practice summer event planning and logistics
• Observe and practice how to assist with mascot and player appearances in the community
• Observe and practice how to expand the Dallas Wings database of contacts and non-profit partners for various programs
• Observe and practice the planning and execution of Youth clinics and other basketball-focused fitness events
• Observe and practice the fulfillment of donation requests such as tickets, jerseys and other giveaways for non-profits and other DFW community groups
• Observe and practice the processing of purchase orders, quotes and vendor invoices
• Manage projects of various scale from beginning to end
• Observe and practice how to manage day-to-day needs of the Community Relations staff and complete general office tasks
• Develop positive relationships with fans, clients, and community members to help promote the Dallas Wings
• Learn to react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
• Practice producing great work results through organization, integrity, effective communication and proactive problem solving. Practice focusing on small details and accuracy in a fast-paced changing environment.
• Observe and practice strong analytical and problem-solving skills in the day-to-day business environment
