This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
The Dallas Mavericks is currently seeking a seasonal intern for the Basketball Operations Communication Department. The Dallas Mavericks internship program is part-time and allow current college / university students or recent graduates the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a professional sports organization.
A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to work creatively and proactively while collaborating in a team environment. We are looking for someone prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment but driven to take the initiative to succeed when presented with individual work responsibilities.
The Basketball Communications Seasonal Intern will be responsible for the following duties:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assist the Mavericks PR staff in all aspects of the team's communications efforts
• Assist with team game notes
• Work home games to assist with both team and media needs
• Manage and prepare media credentials
• Assist with game day setup
• Coordinate and deliver hotel packets for visiting NBA teams
• Help maintain statistical records and assist with publication of media materials
• Assist with media availability at practices, shootarounds and games
Preferred Background / Skills / Qualifications:
• College student or recent college graduate (degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or Sports Management/Administration preferred)
• Must have at least one year experience in sports communications or public relations at either the professional or collegiate level
• Must have good knowledge of the NBA, statistics and basketball terminology
• Must have strong writing skills and attention to detail
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Must be willing to work nights and weekends and come to work promptly and regularly
• Must be able to take direction and work well with others
