ASSISTANT TO THE BUSINESS & LEGAL AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT

CEG owns and controls the music IP in some of most popular media properties and franchises in the world.
Cutting Edge operates as a financier, publisher, record label and has provided a range of music services to over 1000 feature films, tv shows, musical theatre productions and games, including such films and television shows as: The King's Speech, Drive, Fury, John Wick, Sicario, Whiplash, Hacksaw Ridge, and The Walking Dead.
JOB PURPOSE
Assist the Business & Legal Affairs Department in servicing Cutting Edge Media Music and its subsidiaries. Primary responsibilities include department organization, providing assistance at meetings, contract administration, tracking and coordinating documents for music/television/film related matters, and assisting with various other matters on an ad hoc basis. The position is based in Beverly Hills and the candidate will initially report directly to the head of the Business & Legal Affairs Department.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The candidate will be responsible for assisting and organizing the Business & Legal Affairs Department's overall workload, and ensuring that all tasks are handled promptly and thoroughly. This position operates within a demanding environment due to time constraints and a heavy volume of documents, so the proper candidate must be extremely organized and focused, and have excellent follow-up skills and attention to detail. The primary activity of this position is managing document flow of the department which includes assisting in the closing of deals, obtaining signatures, circulating documents to various parties, filing, scanning, sharing various documents both internally and externally as appropriate, and maintaining status reports. This position has frequent contact with employees from various departments within the company, and the candidate will need to communicate with external parties on a variety of projects. Lastly, the candidate must be flexible and ready to assist with a multitude of different tasks and help juggle priorities within a small company operating in a fast-paced environment.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- File, organize, and coordinate agreements for the department. Organization is essential.
- Track documents for signature and follow-up.
- Contract administration.
- Completion of various internal administrative schedules, status reports, agendas, attending and taking notes at meetings, etc.
- External communication.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Four-year college degree.
Contract administration experience, preferably with an entertainment company. (Experience via internships considered eligible for this requirement)
Must have strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Must be computer literate in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Macintosh/Windows applications.
Attention to detail and follow through is critical.
The ability to maintain focus, prioritize, and exercise good judgment is important.
Must be able to work well under pressure.
Compensation
$40,000.00 USD per annum + Benefits
*Please note that the assistant will be working in-person in the Beverly Hills office three (3) days a week with the option to work remotely for two (2) days of the week (subject to change in the future).
