VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS & LEGAL AFFAIRS
Based in Los Angeles, CA, Critical Content is one of the leading global independent content studios. Launched in October of 2015, the company focuses on scripted and unscripted original programming for broadcast, cable and digital platforms.
Critical Content currently has more than 60 projects in productions for more than 30 different networks. Series include Limitless (CBS), Home Free (Fox), Catfish (MTV), The Woodsmen, (History), Pretty.Strong. (Oxygen), Boonies (Nat Geo), The Great Food Truck Race (Food Network), Tia Mowry at Home (Cooking Channel), and Car Matchmaker (Esquire).
Summary of Position:
Currently, Critical Content is seeking a Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs to efficiently and effectively handle a large volume of deals involving the development, production, and/or exploitation of the company's programming. This position will report to the EVP of Business and Legal Affairs.
Job Requirements:
You are strongly encouraged to apply if you:
1. Have at least approximately 5-10 years of experience in U.S. unscripted television business & legal affairs with a production company, network, and/or law firm (experience in scripted business & legal affairs is a plus);
2. Have experience handling corporate, development, and production business & legal affairs matters for television and digital media programming;
3. Knowledge in media law;
4. Have relationships within the television and digital media entertainment industry, including with networks, agencies, law firms, and other production companies;
5. Solid working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel);
6. Have the demonstrated confidence and ability to make decisions;
7. Have a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and are an active member in good standing with the State Bar of California or you qualify for the State Bar of California's registered in-house counsel program;
8. Are willing to put forth the effort and initiative necessary to help build and maintain an efficient work flow;
9. Are ready to hit the ground running;
10. Have a sense of humor;
11. Are a self-starter and team player; and
12. Have the legal right to work in the United States.
