Position: Bookkeeper
Reports To: SVP, People Operations & Facilities and Senior EVP, Business & Legal Affairs and Operations
About the Company: Constantin Film is a German film production and distribution company based in Munich, Germany with a Los Angeles (West Hollywood) office. The company, which belongs to Highlight Communications AG is a constant in the German media landscape and has played a decisive role in shaping German film over the past 40 years - at home and abroad, in the entire field of audio-visual fiction and non-fiction.
Our LA office is a subsidiary of a well-established German film/TV production and distribution company, and our LA office has been in existence for 25+ years. We're a small office, with under 20 employees.
About the role: Constantin Film Development is seeking a Bookkeeper who is responsible for recording the company's financial accounts and records. In conjunction with our Munich office, the Bookkeeper will be responsible for checking accounting records for accuracy, tracking invoices and payments and maintaining a system for organizing company documents.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and technically proficient
Responsibilities:
- Perform all day-to-day accounting functions including daily recording of all transactions and processing bank deposits
- Perform all accounts payable functions including reviewing all invoices, coding, timely processing of payments, maintaining vendor files, and communicate with vendors
- Manage corporate credit card expenses maintaining receipts and allocations to projects
- Perform payroll functions including timely submission to payroll processing company and maintenance of payroll-related records
- Perform month-end closing procedures including reconciliation of all accounts, recording journal entries and preparing month-end financial reports
- Ad-hoc reports and projects
- Maintain and balance petty cash
- Provide tax advisors with quarterly financial statements and trial balances
- Review the tax calculations that were prepared by tax advisors
- Provide tax advisors with detailed information for the preparation of the US income and property tax returns
- Coordinate with third party company to provide PwC with any applicable transfer pricing reports and documentation
- Review and processing of any tax payments with the IRS, FTB or other applicable government agency based upon payment amounts calculated by tax advisors
- Biweekly processing of payroll via ADP
• Other tasks as business needs arise
Background & Qualifications:
• Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Strong ability using Microsoft Excel
• Experience with AccountEdge software (preferred)
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred)
• An eye for detail
• Ability to meet deadlines while juggling multiple projects
• Ability to communicate data in a clear way
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize projects
• Excellent data entry skills
• Payroll accounting skills
• Quick-learner and problem-solver
Experience:
• 5+ years relevant experience in accounting/bookkeeping and processing payroll
