Staff/Production Accountant
Los Angeles animation studio seeking full-time in-house accountant to handle multiple series projects as well as company G/L work. Responsibilities include:
• Establishing and maintaining production budget databases.
• Modification of the production budgets as needed.
• Monthly bank reconciliations.
• Adjusting journal entries.
• Generating various cost and other reports using database software.
• Account analysis.
• Special projects as directed by producers/finance personnel.
• Review time sheets and payroll edits for bi-monthly union and non-union payrolls.
• Responsibility of all aspects of projects accounted for in the database system (i.e. adjusting entries, correction of misclassified entries, reconciliations between producers' reports and system-generated cost reports, ETCs/EFCs, monitoring budget variances and suggesting corrective actions if and where needed, plus monitoring projects' overall financial status).
General Ledger:
• Monthly bank reconciliations and monthly close for all cash accounts.
• Management of all weekly/monthly reporting regarding the various cash accounts.
• Reconciliations and recording in G/L of employee expense reports.
• Month-end adjusting journal entries.
• Maintenance of the monthly depreciation schedule for all entities.
• Management of the revenue cycle including invoicing for services performed and follow up on outstanding invoices.
• Management of the procurement cycle including check processing and reconciliation of the accounts payable aging.
• File maintenance for vendor invoices and other documents.
• By-weekly payroll for company employees including review of time sheets & journal entries.
• Account analysis on balance sheet and key income statement accounts.
• Generation of financial reports.
• Compliance reporting regarding federal/state/and local entities.
• Account coding for purchases through the purchase/debit card.
• Fixed-asset coding and reconciliations.
• Special projects as directed by the various show producers and finance management.
Requirements:
• At least five years' relevant work experience.
• Extensive knowledge of QuickBooks and other similar general ledger packages.
• Functional experience using Cast & Crew PSL3 or similar database software.
• MS Excel and Word skills a must.
• Forward thinking and solid communication abilities are essential (i.e. understanding and taking direction, providing clear explanations, strong organizational skills, etc.)
