The company is a music, media and entertainment company. We are searching for a staff accountant, in a highly visible position that will play an integral part in the finance team's monthly closes of this complex and dynamic multi-entity organization. The staff accountant will be responsible for recording and reconciling monthly expense allocations between the parent company and its subsidiaries and affiliates, ensuring entries are recorded accurately and timely. The staff accountant's duties will also include weekly and monthly cash management reporting, bank reconciliations, and monthly amortization and accrual entries and related account reconciliations. This role will also assist the Sr. Accounts Payable Analyst with the management of the organization's credit card expense reporting, employee expense reimbursements, and the coordination and disbursement of estimated and final tax payments.
A minimum of 2-5 years of general ledger experience at either a start-up or fast-paced, multi-entity organization is required.
Responsibilities:
Own and manage weekly bank reconciliations for 30+ bank accounts.
Collaborate with management to communicate cash needs for weekly cash disbursements and monthly cash forecasts.
Reconcile monthly credit card expenses to monthly statements, accruing when necessary to ensure all activities have been captured for the month.
Possess and demonstrate a working knowledge of expense allocations and intercompany transactions, collaborating with the senior accountant and accounting manager to complete monthly billings and supporting allocation schedules.
Review AP and AR aging schedules for outstanding items and take action to resolve.
Partner with the senior accountant in the fixed asset management process.
Work closely with the Sr. Accounts Payable Analyst to ensure prepaid transactions are assigned a proper amortization schedule.
Assist in the interim and annual external audits, as necessary.
Assist with quarterly and annual tax requests and the disbursement of estimated tax payments, including the coordination of signatures on quarterly and annual tax forms.
Ad-hoc projects and reporting, as assigned.
Experience and Qualitative Expectations:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
A minimum of 2 years of general ledger experience at either a start-up or fast-paced, multi-entity organization is required.
Intermediate understanding of GAAP and ability to relate principles to various transactions (candidates will be assessed during the interview process).
Exceptional critical-thinking skills and ability to problem-solve and communicate possible solutions to management.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet critical business deadlines.
Able to adapt to a fast-paced, growing environment where duties may change and/or increase with short notice.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the initiative to proactively communicate to supervisor progress on tasks and problems encountered timely; asking questions when clarity is needed.
Comfortable communicating with executive suite.
Experience with NetSuite is highly preferred
Entertainment experience a plus, but not required.
